Black Angus Cheesy Garlic Bread is a popular appetizer served at Black Angus Steakhouse restaurants. This copycat recipe is a delicious variation of classic garlic bread, made with toasted slices of French bread topped with a mixture of butter, mayonnaise, garlic, and a blend of melted cheeses, including Asiago and Jack. The result is a warm, gooey, and flavorful bread item that is perfect for an appetizer or accompaniment to any meal!

    The Best Cheesy Garlic Bread

I don’t know about you, but I am a bread lover! In fact, just about every dinner I make is served with some sort of bread item. From buttery dinner rolls to garlic cheese crescents, I love them all!

This copycat recipe is pretty darn close to the classic bread that was served at Black Angus Steakhouses. The same great buttery, garlic, cheesy bread that quickly became a favorite throughout America, now made conveniently at home!

Cheesy Garlic Bread is simple to make and LOADED with flavor! Only 7 simple ingredients needed, therefore anytime the craving hits, you can have this ready in no time! Love garlic bread? How about my Chicken Alfredo Garlic Bread for a full dinner option?!

Ingredients needed for Cheesy Garlic Bread

See printable recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts and directions.

    • French Bread- store-bought from the grocery store is the simplest route
    • Butter- I use unsalted butter
    • Shredded Jack Cheese/Asiago Cheese- feel free to use any blend of cheeses you may have on hand
    • Mayonnaise- the SECRET ingredient! I promise, you won’t taste it once the bread is cooked. It really enhances the flavor and brings a creaminess to the bread
    • Green Onions- adds a nice touch of flavor and burst of color throughout
    • Garlic- fresh, minced is best, add more or less to fit your tastes

How to make Black Angus Cheesy Garlic Bread

This recipe is incredibly easy to make! Even let the kids help you prepare it for the oven!

    1. Split French Bread Loaf into halves horizontally.
    2. In a small bowl, combine the butter, cheeses, mayonnaise, green onions, and garlic.
    3. Spread mixture onto both sides of French loaf.
    4. Bake in preheated oven, 350 degrees, for about 7 minutes, followed by under the broiler for about 3 minutes.
    5. Remove from oven, cut into desired size pieces, and serve!

Pro Tip: It is best to serve warm but patiently wait a few minutes before slicing and serving.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this Cheesy Garlic Bread in the air fryer? Absolutely! It works great! Simply prepare bread as directed and cook in air fryer at 325 degrees for about 6 minutes. Keep an eye on it as each air fryer cooks differently. You may need to cut the prepared bread into smaller pieces to fit into your air fryer.

What can I serve with this garlic bread? This bread pairs perfectly with recipes like my chicken piccata pasta, lemon garlic salmon, melt in your mouth chicken bake, garlic and parmesan roasted asparagus, and Copycat Chick Fil A Chicken Tortilla Soup.

Can I make this ahead of time? Feel free to make the cheese mixture up to 2 days early and store in the refrigerator. When ready to bake, simply spread onto bread and bake in preheated oven.

What kinds of cheeses can I use? Any cheeses work great for this recipe, just try to avoid cheddar as it’s a bit oily.

Do I need to refrigerate the leftover bread? Yes! If you have leftovers, be sure to wrap it in plastic or foil and place in the refrigerator up to 3 days.

    Storage

    • Room Temperature- not recommended due to the fact mayonnaise is involved. I am a “better safe than sorry” type of girl
    • Refrigerator- place leftover bread in an airtight container or bag and store up to 3 days
    • Freezer- place leftover bread in freezer safe container/bag for up to 3 months

How to reheat Cheesy Garlic Bread

Oven: wrap the bread in aluminum foil and place in oven, 350 degrees, for about 10 minutes or until heated through.

Microwave: reheat desired amount of bread in microwave in 30 second increments.

Air Fryer: place bread into air fryer basket and cook at 325 degrees for about 5 minutes.
