How to make Peanut Butter Oreo Dessert
This traditional “lush” style dessert meaning that it has layers of a crust, pudding, cookie crumble, pudding layer, and topping! Such an easy dessert option and if you mess up a layer, no worries, just add it on top or move to the next layer!
- In a food processor, add Oreos and pulse on low speed until fine crumbs. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, combine 1/2 the chocolate chips and 1/4 cup cold milk.
- Microwave until chips are melted, stirring until smooth. Set aside to cool.
- Spread 1/3 crushed Oreos on bottom of a 9×13 pan for the Oreo crust. Press down with fork to create even layer.
- Peanut Butter Layer: Place 8 oz cream cheese in large bowl. Beat with mixer until smooth. Sprinkle in the vanilla pudding mix and peanut butter. Combine until smooth. Slowly add in 1 3/4 cups of milk and use mixer to combine. Spread over crust.
- Spread additional 1/3 mixture of Oreo crumbs on top of peanut butter layer.
- Chocolate Pudding Layer: Place remaining 8 oz cream cheese in medium bowl. Beat with mixer until smooth. Sprinkle in the chocolate pudding mix, cooled chocolate sauce from step 2, and 1 1/2 cups milk. Beat until smooth. Spread over Oreo crumb layer.
- Spread last 1/3 Oreo mixture over chocolate layer.
- Spread whipped topping evenly on top of the Oreo layer.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips, shaved chocolate, peanuts, etc on top of dessert for garnish (optional)
- Place pan in refrigerator and allow to chill 4-6 hours. Serve and enjoy!
Tips for the best Chocolate Peanut Butter No Bake Dessert
- Ensure that you are using INSTANT pudding and not the type that requires cooking.
- If you want to use a different type of peanut butter, feel free. Almond butter works good too.
- If you don’t have a food processor to use for crushing the Oreos, add the cookies to a large Ziploc bag and seal closed. Crush the cookies using a rolling pin.
- Feel free to halve the recipe and prepare in an 8×8 baking dish for less servings.
- For additional garnish ideas, you can use chocolate chips, powdered sugar, crushed Oreo cookies, chopped peanut butter cups, drizzled peanut butter, or even crushed chocolate chip cookies for an added flavor boost.
Make Ahead and Storage
- This dessert is the best make ahead treat! Assemble as directed and cover with plastic wrap. Place in fridge for up to 24 hours. I recommend not preparing it too much further in advance as the Oreo’s start to get soft and you want them firm when first enjoying.
- Leftovers should be stored in the refrigerator up to 5 days.
- To freeze, place in a freezer safe container up to 3 months. Allow to thaw overnight before serving.

Although I let it sit for six hours in the fridge, mine was very messy and I couldn’t cut it into squares and it was like a big pudding mess. Tasted yummy but looked like mud pie.
Kristin
Did the pudding set up as directed? It should be soft but should be set up enough to hold its shape once cut into pieces. Did you let it fully chill for the 6+ hours?
Julie
Haven’t made it yet but it looks perfect for my sons birthday treat. I have a question. Wouldn’t you need to mix something in with the oreo cookie crumb crust on the first layer? Just seems like it would crumble away when you try to cut it. Seems like some butter or something might hold it together more like a crust. I look forward to making it.
Kristin
Hi! Love the idea of making this for a birthday, what a tasty treat! Because you are adding the Oreos into a food processor with the cream still inside, it adds enough moisture to form a crust. If you want the bottom layer to be a bit more crust like however, you can divide the Oreo mixture and add about 2 tbsp melted butter into the cookie mixture. Press that mixture onto the bottom of the pan using a fork. Either way works great with or without the butter!

Top with 1 tbls pb mixed with 2 table spoon confection sugar . I doubt ok Ed was perfect amount .
Kristin
That sounds like a scrumptious topping idea as well! Thanks for the idea!
