- Strawberries– hull the fresh strawberries and cut them into slices or bite-size chunks
- Mandarin Oranges– peeled and pulled apart. You can also use canned mandarin oranges if preferred.
- Pineapple– 20 ounce can of pineapple tidbits that has been drained.
- Kiwi– peel the kiwis and cut them into slices, half moons, or bite size chunks.
- Mango– peeled and cubed.
- Banana– peeled and sliced into banana coins, use a ripe banana for extra sweetness.
- Cream Cheese– you’ll need one 8 ounce package of softened cream cheese, any brand.
- Cool Whip– I used Original Cool Whip but if you want to cut calories, use the Sugar Free Cool Whip. The flavor won’t change.

Making Ahead
Want to save on time and prepare this ahead of time? You can prepare this Hawaiian fruit salad in advance up until the part where you combine the fruit and cream. Store the cheesecake cream and sliced fruit separately in the fridge until just before you’re ready to make and serve the salad. Make sure to let the cream mixture come to room temperature for 15 minutes or so and to drain the fruit of any excess liquid before adding the fruit to make it easier to combine everything.
Helpful Tips
- Have fun with extra add in’s. You can add shredded coconut, macadamia nuts, cashews, a splash of lemon juice, vanilla extract, or lime juice, or mini marshmallows.
- Change up the fruit if you have favorites. Apples, grapes, cantaloupe, honeydew, blueberries, or Maraschino cherries are all great additions.
- Make sure your cream cheese is softened before getting started. You’ll need to whip cream cheese with an electric mixer or stand mixer until light and fluffy.
- Serve this in a glass bowl to showcase all the pretty colors throughout.
- Gently fold the fruit into the creamy cheesecake filling as you don’t want the fruit to break apart or color the salad.
- Frozen fruit is not recommended for this cream cheese fruit salad. Once thawed, the fruit is gets soft and will give the salad a mushy texture. The frozen fruit may also make the salad too watery. Stick to fresh fruit or canned, well-drained fruit.
Storing
Once you’ve combined the fruit with the cheesecake cream, serve immediately or cover the bowl with plastic wrap and store it in the fridge. It’s best served within a few hours. The juices start to break down the cream mixture and the salad gets a bit soft and runny after a while. If you aren’t planning to serve it until the next day, store the cream cheese mixture and sliced fruits separately until you’re ready to combine them.
