Copycat Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits

If you have ever been to Red Lobster, you know their biscuits are a must try. In fact, it is the one item they are most known for. Did you know, Red Lobster makes about 1.1 MILLION Cheddar Bay Biscuits each DAY? Crazy, right?! During the initial early ’90s run, they were called “freshly baked, hot cheese garlic bread”, however, after five years the name was later changed to Cheddar Bay Biscuits in order to "reflect the seaside atmosphere of Red Lobster restaurants."

This shortcut version is quick and easy, and still has that light and fluffy texture, combined with buttery, cheesy, garlic goodness in every bite!

These Biscuits are great when they are fresh from the oven, or dipped into Chick Fil A Chicken Tortilla Soup, Game Day Chili, Best Ever Beef Stew, and more!

What makes Cheddar Bay Biscuits so good?

The combination of garlic, cheese, and butter in this recipe is what makes these biscuits magical. Incredibly light and fluffy, loaded with flavor in each bite. This shortcut recipe uses Pillsbury biscuits, which cuts the prep time down significantly. With a tender center, and slight crisp crust, these biscuits melt in your mouth. Just be warned, it is hard to stop at just one.

    Shortcut Cheddar Bay Biscuit Ingredients

See printable recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts and step by step instructions.

    • Butter- I use unsalted since the seasonings have salt already in them
    • Old Bay Seasoning- feel free to use a Cajun seasoning if you don’t have Old Bay on hand
    • Garlic Powder- you can also use fresh, minced garlic
    • Pillsbury Biscuits- I use Buttermilk, flaky biscuits. Use my Flaky Buttermilk Biscuit recipe if packaged isn’t an option.
    • Cheese- shredded cheddar cheese
    • Parsley- dried is easiest to use in this recipe

What to serve with Quick and Easy Cheddar Bay Biscuits

These Shortcut Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits can easily be enjoyed on their own! However, they also pair perfectly with soups, Lemon Garlic Salmon, Shrimp Foil Packets, or even Cilantro Lime Grilled Chicken! How to store Cheddar Bay Biscuits

    • Room Temperature- keep in an airtight container or bag for up to 4 days.
    • Refrigerator- place leftover biscuits in an airtight container or bag for up to 6 days.
    • Freezer- place in a freezer safe container for up to 2 months.

How to reheat Cheddar Bay Biscuits

There are several ways you can reheat your leftover Cheddar Bay Biscuits.

    • You can place them on a cookie sheet and bake them in a preheated oven, 350 degrees, for about 5 minutes.
    • Wrap the leftover biscuits in a damp (not wet) paper towel and place them in the microwave for 20-30 seconds. This helps retain their fluffy texture.
    • Reheat in your air fryer at 375 degrees for about 4-5 minutes. Just be sure to keep an eye on them so they don’t burn.

    Tips

    • Feel free to use a variety of different cheeses in place of only using cheddar cheese. Colby, Pepper Jack, Swiss, and Mozzarella are all great options.
    • Serve these fresh from the oven for best flavors and textures.
    • Don’t use store brand biscuits if possible. Pillsbury Grand Biscuits have the best end result with this recipe.
    • Add some more seasonings such as Cajun, all-purpose seasoning, dried Basil or Italian Seasoning, etc.
    • If you want to add a bit of salt, feel free to use Garlic Salt or salted butter.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make these biscuits ahead of time? Since they are already shortcut, I don’t recommend prepping them any earlier than about 4 hours ahead of time. You can have these ready for the oven in under 10 minutes, and the biscuits get hard when not baked and stored in the refrigerator.

What if I want to make these from scratch versus using pre-made biscuits? Great idea too! Here is a great Copycat Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits recipe that is both simple and homemade!

How do I upgrade canned biscuits? Look no further than this recipe because the butter mixture and cheese enhances the flavor of canned biscuits and transforms them into a melt in your mouth biscuit recipe the entire family will enjoy.

    Gluten Free Cheddar Bay Biscuits

To make this gluten free, several specialty food brands, such as Krusteaz and Bob’s Red Mill offer gluten-free biscuit dough. Follow the same recipe, but use gluten free biscuit dough in place of the Pillsbury Grands.
