Oreo Brownie Trifle Ingredients Needed
See printable recipe card at the bottom of this post for exact recipe ingredient amounts and step by step directions.
- Brownie Mix– if using a boxed mix, you will need the ingredients listed on the box as well. Feel free to make homemade brownies in place of boxed.
- Chocolate Pudding– I use Instant Chocolate Pudding mix. If you prefer vanilla pudding, that works too.
- Cool Whip– allow to slightly thaw so it is easier to spread. You can also use homemade whipped cream if desired.
- Oreos– I use original Oreos and crush them in a Ziploc bag before assembling the trifle.
How to make an Oreo Brownie Trifle
- Prepare brownie mix as directed on box and bake in prepared pan. Once brownies have cooled, cut into 1-inch cube pieces.
- Crush Oreos in a gallon zip bag, set aside about 1/4 cup for the topping.
- Place half the brownies on the bottom of trifle dish.
- Pour half of the pudding mixture over top of the brownies.
- Spread 1/2 of the cool whip container over pudding.
- Sprinkle 1/2 of the crushed Oreos over whip cream.
- Repeat pattern a second time ending with the remaining whipped topping.
- On top layer, sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup of Oreo pieces evenly over whipped cream.
- Refrigerate for an hour and enjoy!
Oreo Trifle Recipe Tips and Variations
- If you prefer vanilla pudding, you can use that in place of the chocolate pudding.
- Don’t like Oreos? No problem! Chocolate Chip Cookies work great too!
- If you don’t have cool whip on hand, feel free to make real whipped cream using heavy whipping cream.
- Chocolate Cake or blondies can be used in place of the chocolate brownies.
- To make the whipped cream layer creamier and a bit thicker consistency, you can mix in 8 ounces cream cheese for a cream cheese mixture. This will make this layer more like cheesecake in flavoring.
- Use Mint Oreos or Peanut Butter Oreos in place of the original.
Storing this Brownie Trifle Recipe
- Leftovers should be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days. Simply cover trifle bowl with plastic wrap and place in refrigerator.
- To make ahead, this trifle can be prepared up to 1 day in advance. I don’t recommend making it any earlier as the layers will start to fuse together. You want the brownie pieces firm and to hold their own.
- This Oreo Chocolate Brownie Trifle doesn’t freeze well due to the pudding and whipped cream layers.
Easy Oreo Chocolate Brownie Trifle FAQ’s
What can I add to this chocolate Oreo trifle to make it stand out?
A fun way to dress this up is by adding marshmallows, chocolate sauce, candies, and sprinkles. Have fun with your creation, there is no right or wrong way to make this!
What is the correct order to assemble my Oreo Trifle Dessert?
Personally, I like starting with brownies on the bottom layer, however, you can start with any order desired. I tend to stick to the same pattern with my trifles and have the brownie/cake on the bottom, then the pudding, and lastly the whipped cream layer. Sometimes, if I am not paying attention, I will mess the order up, but it always turns out delicious!
What can I make this in if I don’t have a trifle bowl?
No worries at all if you don’t’ own a trifle dish. Use a large bowl to assemble, or make this into mini trifles by assembling into small glasses, plastic cups, little dishes, etc.

Hi, This looks so yummy. I will make this the next time I’m invited to a pot luck. The only way this can be improved is by making the pudding from scratch and using real whipped cream. Love your recipes. R
