Strawberry Banana Bread
This quick and easy Strawberry Banana Bread is a moist, flavorful bread that is a cross between a classic banana bread recipe and strawberry bread! The ultimate treat to enjoy during the summer season when berries are freshly picked and juicy as can be!
The best part it, you may already have the ingredients on hand to make this banana strawberry bread! Whether you enjoy it fresh from the oven, or enjoyed at room temperature, it will be a favorite with everyone! In fact, my husband loves to spread some cream cheese on his slice, whereas I enjoy mine with a bit of butter that melts after a few seconds! Either way, you can’t go wrong!

- Perfectly Moist and Flavorful– this quick bread is soft, tender, and packed with just the right amount of strawberries and bananas throughout
- Freezer Friendly– enjoy now or freeze for later
- A great way to use up any overripe bananas– if you’re like me and have lots of bananas hiding in your freezer, this is just the bread to make to use some up
Ingredients needed for Easy Strawberry Banana Bread
See printable recipe card below for exact ingredient amounts and directions.
- Flour– all purpose flour, this gives structure to the bread
- Baking Soda/Salt– make sure the baking soda is fresh as this is the leavening agent and helps the bread to rise
- Butter– softened, unsalted so you can control the salt
- Sugar– regular white sugar, this adds just the right amount of sweetness to the bread
- Eggs– large, helps bind the batter together and add to the moistness
- Bananas– mashed, use very ripe bananas to add the perfect amount of sweet banana flavor throughout
- Strawberries– fresh or frozen work great, toss in about 1 tablespoon flour to prevent them from sinking into the batter
- Milk– any type works, I use 2%, helps everything combine together
Variations and Substitutions
- Fresh Fruit– feel free to a different fruit in place of the strawberries. Blueberries, raspberries, and cranberries are all great options.
- Chocolate Chips– whether you add them into the batter, or sprinkle on top, how can you go wrong with a chocolate addition, right?
- Nuts/Seeds– pecans and walnuts work great in this bread. You can also add in chia seed, flax seed, or sunflower seeds.
- Butter– if you only have salted butter on hand, feel free to use, just omit the addition of salt to the bread.

- Using a fork, mash the fresh strawberries a bit.
- Add to the flour mixture along with the milk stirring until all is combined.
- Grease one large loaf pan, or four mini loaf pans and pour mixture in. If you want, you can slice additional strawberries and place in a decorative pattern on top.

Serving Suggestions
My go to way to enjoy this bread is to enjoy it with a cup of morning coffee. If it isn’t fresh from the oven, I tend to warm it up a little in the microwave with a bit of butter. My kids and husband like to enjoy this bread with some cream cheese on top, even some creamy peanut butter! Serve with some yogurt, a smoothie, or fresh fruit for the ultimate breakfast/brunch option!
How to store Easy Strawberry Banana Bread
Once the bread cools completely, you can choose whether you keep it at room temperature, in the refrigerator, or frozen!
- Room Temperature: place in an airtight container or bag for up to 3 days.
- Refrigerator: place in an airtight container in the fridge up to 5 days.
- Freezer: place in a freezer safe container or bag in your freezer for up to 3 months.
Tips for Success
- Ripe bananas offer the most flavor and sweetness. Don’t be afraid to use up those brown bananas.
- Dice the strawberries up into small pieces so they combine into the bread easily. I love using a fork to mash them up a bit so the pieces are smaller and are the perfect amount in each bite.
- To make this gluten free, simply substitute gluten free flour at a 1:1 ratio.
- You can toast this bread for an added crispness.
- Maple Syrup and/or honey can be used in place of the sugar if you are trying to keep this sugar free.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use frozen strawberries?
Sure! They hold more liquid and typically come whole, so I would try to keep them frozen and toss them into the batter once the ingredients are combined, or thaw and pat them dry as best you can.
What can I use in place of butter?
Greek Yogurt, Applesauce, and sour cream are all great substitutions for butter.
What is the best size loaf pan for this recipe?
I love to use mini loaf pans since I freeze a few and keep a few out, however, any size loaf pan works including a muffin pan.
Why did my Strawberry Banana Bread fall after baking?
This happens when the quick bread isn’t fully cooked or if too much moisture was added. Make sure the bread is fully baked and make sure you aren’t adding too many strawberries from the amount listed.
How do I know when this bread is fully baked?
Once done, a toothpick will come out clean if inserted in the center. Just be sure to avoid poking a strawberry or banana as you’ll want to test the doneness of the bread itself.
Can I use whole wheat flour in this bread?
When substituting it for all-purpose, use 50 percent whole-wheat, and 50 percent of another flour, preferably all-purpose, pastry flour or spelt, to avoid a dense result.
