Helpful Tips
- Feel free to use ground turkey in place of the ground beef to lower calories. I have used ground turkey before and its just as yummy!
- If you don’t have cheddar cheese on hand, any cheese you have will work! Colby Jack is a great alternative option.
- To save on time, feel free to use 2 cans of Manwich sloppy joe sauce or packets instead of the homemade sauce in this recipe.
- Cut the biscuit pieces evenly so some pieces don’t cook faster than others.
- If you aren’t a ketchup fan. BBQ sauce is a great alternative.

Some great add ins to the meat mixture are diced onions, green bell peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, or using BBQ sauce in place of the ketchup.

Yes! Prepare the meat mixture up to 48 hours in advance and simply toss with the quartered biscuit pieces once ready to bake.

Can drop biscuits be used instead of the Grand biscuits?
Kristin
Although I haven’t tried this personally, I don’t see why that wouldn’t work! Just keep an eye on the cook time as they may cook a bit faster if not as dense and thick. Enjoy!
Mary Briscoe
This is one of my hubby’s favorite dinners!! Having it again tonight! I like to add some minced garlic and diced onion too.
Kristin
Yay!! Love hearing that and great additions on the garlic and onion!!

can I use home made dough ? I use a pizza dough recipe more like buns. but can adjust
Kristin
Absolutely! That works great too! Enjoy!

Are Grands jar’s same size as regular biscuits? Can’t find grands jr’s.
Kristin
They are typically a 10 count, however, if you can only find regular, that works great too. I believe regular is an 8 count, but bigger biscuits, so it evens out! Enjoy!

Are the biscuits added cooked or raw?
Ashley
raw. they cook in the oven.
Kristin
They go in raw and cook once assembled and baking in the oven! Enjoy!
Isaac Rivermoone
tried it with my boyfriend, it ended up being so, so good, wrote it down in my personal recipe book to keep for later too
Kristin
Yay!! Love hearing that! Glad you both enjoyed!

Do you bake this covered? I wonder how you keep the cheese from getting hard?
Kristin
Nope, mine didn’t need to be covered and the cheese was great. If it starts getting a little too browned in your oven, you can always put foil over it halfway through, but it shouldn’t need it! Enjoy!!
gloria
when do you add the shredded cheese
Kristin
Oops, good catch! I have corrected the recipe! You add it right before putting the pan in the oven! Enjoy!
