Have you started your Holiday baking? Although I haven’t started quite yet since we aren’t even in December, but I have put together my menu and plan on making some of my favorite recipes from Buckeye Balls, to Fantasy Fudge, Christmas Kitchen Sink Cookies, Peanut Brittle, and of course, this Peppermint Bark Recipe. Not only is it ready to chill in only 15 minutes, but its a festive no bake dessert, and the perfect Holiday treat!

    What is Oreo Peppermint Bark?

You may be wondering what Peppermint Oreo Bark is, right?! Well, its a fun treat made from white chocolate, crushed Oreo’s, and crushed candy canes. Peppermint bark is a variation of chocolate bark, which is thought to have originated from the French. Williams Sonoma popularized their version of peppermint bark in 1998. If you aren’t a fan of Oreo’s, I also have this White Chocolate Peppermint Bark version that uses peppermint extract, candy canes, and white chocolate chips.

a no bake Holiday dessert from 4 ingredients.

Why You’ll Love this Candy Cane Oreo Bark

    • Only 4 ingredients needed– white chocolate chips, semisweet chocolate chips, Oreo cookies, and candy canes combine into a dessert for everyone!
    • Quick and Easy– simple ingredients, no bake, and only 15 minutes of prep, now THAT is easy!
    • Fun for the kids– kids love making this with or without the help of an adult and breaking the bark into smaller pieces.
    • The perfect make ahead dessert– save time by making this ahead of time. When the Holidays come around, simply add it to your goodie tray!

Ingredients Needed to make this Peppermint Bark Oreo Recipe

Below is a brief overview of the ingredients needed. To see full recipe with exact amounts, scroll to the bottom of this post to the recipe card.

    • Chocolate Chips– I use semi-sweet chocolate chips, however, milk chocolate chips work great too.
    • White Chocolate Chips– if you can find Ghiradelli, that is best because you want a high quality white chocolate as it offers more flavor.
    • Oreo Cookies– Oreo Thins work best because they aren’t too thick. However, if you only have access to regular Oreo’s, that works too.
    • Peppermint Candy Canes– crushed.

all the ingredients needed to make Oreo Peppermint Bark.

How to make Oreo Peppermint Bark

    1. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or wax paper, and set aside.
    2. In a microwave safe bowl, microwave the semi-sweet chocolate chips on 30 second increments, stirring well in between, until melted.
    3. Pour the melted chocolate onto the parchment, and smooth into an even layer.
    4. Press the Oreo Thins into the chocolate. Move the baking sheet to the refrigerator to chill for 1 hour.
    5. Then, add the white chocolate chips to a bowl, and heat for 30 second increments, stirring well in between, until they melt.
    6. Add the melted white chocolate over the Oreo Thins, and spread out evenly. Sprinkle the crushed peppermints over the white chocolate.
    7. Return to the refrigerator for 1 more hour to chill. Once the candy has set, break into pieces, and enjoy.

    Recipe Tips for Success

    • If making this with little kids, I recommend prepping everything first to keep it simple and safe. Older kids can make this on their own.
    • To crush the candy canes, you can place them in your food processor and pulse until crushed, or place in a plastic bag and crush using a rolling pin.
    • When melting the chocolate in the microwave, only heat in 30 second increments to avoid burning the chocolate.
    • Feel free to add in sprinkles, Holiday candies, or even peppermint extract if desired.

    Storing White Chocolate Peppermint Bark

    • Oreo Chocolate Bark will keep well for up to two weeks. Store in an airtight container at room temperature and enjoy it through the holiday season! Or, package it in cute tins or gift bags and give it away to friends and family.
    • You can store your chocolate bark in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
    • If freezing, chocolate bark will be good for up to 2 months.
