    Raspberry Chocolate Milkshake Delight

Are you a milkshake fan? Or do you prefer a classic bowl of ice-cream? Personally, I have always been a fan of keeping things simple and enjoying a bowl of ice-cream on a warm summer evening, however, my kids LOVE making milkshakes. With so many fun variations and add in’s, I can see why they always go that route! My daughter omits the raspberries in this recipe and uses Reese peanut butter cups instead to make a chocolate peanut butter version. Whichever way your sweet tooth goes, there is always a milkshake combination that will fit that taste!

    Chocolate Raspberry Milkshake Ingredient Notes

Using only a few simple ingredients, these shakes can be ready in no time. Perfect for dessert, Valentine’s Day, parties, gatherings, or warm summer evenings! See printable recipe card at the bottom of this post for exact ingredient amounts and step by step directions.

    • Vanilla ice cream– any brand works, use whichever brand is on sale. We love home-style vanilla bean, but you can’t go wrong whichever type used.
    • Chocolate syrup– classic Hershey’s syrup is my favorite, however, any brand works and you can even use dark chocolate syrup if desired.
    • Fresh raspberries– we have found that fresh brings the most raspberry flavor to these shakes, however, frozen raspberries work great too as well as raspberry jam or jelly.
    • Milk– use whatever milk you prefer from whole milk to almond milk, it all works great and helps blend everything into the perfect consistency.
    • Whipped Topping– although optional, isn’t the whipped cream the best part? Creamy and the perfect topping, feel free to make homemade as well.
    • Sprinkles/Cherries– these garnishes add lots to the overall look as well as a nice fruit burst on top.

How to make a Chocolate Raspberry Milkshake

    1. Scoop the vanilla ice cream into the blender container.
    2. Pour in the Hershey’s syrup, raspberries, and milk.
    3. Place lid on blender and blend on high for about 30-45 seconds, or until smooth. You may just need to adjust blending time depending on the strength and capacity of your blender. If the mixture is too thick, add additional milk. If the mixture is too runny, add additional ice-cream.
    4. Pour milkshake into cups and place whipped topping on top as well as sprinkles and cherries if using.
    5. Serve and enjoy!

**This will make about 6 servings, if you don't need that many, cut the recipe in half.

How To Get the Perfect Milkshake Texture

We used a Vitamix to blend these together. If you don't have a Vitamix, feel free to use whichever blender you do have! Just make sure you watch the consistency of the milkshake because if you over blend, it gets quite soupy. If you don't blend enough, it will be thick and a bit clumpy. You can also adjust the consistency using additional milk and ice-cream. A perfect milkshake is thick enough for a spoon to stand in but still drinkable. Any mix-ins should still be in little pieces, and there should be a really pure ice cream flavor that’s not diluted with milk.

    Chocolate Raspberry Shake Variations

    • Chocolate ice cream: If you want to increase the chocolate flavor, swap out the vanilla ice cream with chocolate.
    • Heavy whipping cream: If you're looking for a thicker texture, use heavy whipping cream instead of milk.
    • Cocoa powder: If you don't have chocolate syrup, unsweetened cocoa powder works in a pinch!
    • Raspberry sauce: Drizzle raspberry sauce on top if you're feeling fancy!
    • White chocolate chips: These are fun as an addition to, or replacement of, the Hershey’s syrup! You can also add dark chocolate chips as well if you want to really make these shakes decadent!
