Ingredient Notes
See printable recipe card below for the full ingredient list and directions.

- Chicken Breasts: I typically use boneless, skinless chicken breasts for this recipe since they become nice and tender in the slow cooker.
- Mayonnaise or Greek Yogurt: Mayonnaise gives the sauce a rich, creamy texture, while plain Greek yogurt is a lighter option that still works great.
- Parmesan Cheese: Freshly grated Parmesan adds the best flavor and helps create that creamy, cheesy sauce.
Easy Ways to Change It Up
- Swap the chicken breasts for boneless chicken thighs if preferred.
- Add mushrooms or diced potatoes to the slow cooker for an even heartier meal.
- Stir in a little cream cheese near the end for an extra creamy sauce.
- Shred the chicken before serving and spoon it over pasta or rice.
- Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes for a little heat.
How to Make Melt in Your Mouth Chicken in the Crock Pot
This easy crock pot chicken recipe comes together with just a few minutes of prep work before the slow cooker does the rest.

Step 1. Place the chicken breasts on the bottom of the slow cooker.

Step 2. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Parmesan cheese, seasoning salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

Step 3. Spread the creamy Parmesan mixture evenly over the chicken breasts.

Step 4. Place the lid on the slow cooker and cook on HIGH for about 4 hours, or LOW for about 6 hours.
Cooking Tips
- Cooking low and slow typically gives the most tender chicken.
- Avoid overcooking since chicken breasts can dry out faster than chicken thighs.
- If the sauce seems a little thin at first, let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
- Sprinkle extra Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley on top before serving for even more flavor.
Serving Suggestions
This creamy slow cooker chicken is delicious served over just about anything that can soak up the extra sauce!
- Amish Buttered Noodles
- Instant Pot Jasmine Rice
- Roasted veggies like Lemon Garlic Asparagus
- Garlic bread such as Mini Garlic Monkey Bread Muffins

Storage & Reheating
- Store leftover crock pot chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
- To reheat, warm leftovers in the microwave in 30-second increments until heated through. If needed, stir in a splash of milk or broth to help loosen the creamy sauce.

We really liked this recipe. The only thing I did different was I shredded the cooked chicken breast while making another one, so it basically was after mixing everything in a bow – it just needed to be reheated in the oven. Added some already cooked brown rice, lowered the temp to 350 until heated through. Really good. Will definitely make it again. Maybe add a 4oz can of green chilies.

What do you mean you shredded one while making another?
Kristin Hayes says
I’m not positive what she meant, but perhaps shredded one batch of chicken while the other batch cooked?
