Ingredients Needed to make Pillsbury Chicken Ranch Rollups
Below is a brief overview of how to make this simple recipe! To see exact ingredient amounts and step by step directions, scroll below to the printable recipe card.
- Chicken– you will need two cups of shredded chicken. To save time, you can also use a Rotisserie chicken.
- Ranch– any brand works, use your favorite Ranch dressing or make a homemade blend.
- Cheese– I use shredded Italian cheese, however, you can also use Mozzarella, Mexican Blend, Cheddar Cheese, Colby Jack Cheese, Pepper Jack, or any other cheese desired.
- Crescent Rolls– any brand works, however, I have the best luck using Pillsbury as the dough separates easily and have the best flaky texture once baked.
How to make these easy Ranch Chicken Rollups
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease a 9 inch round pan.
- In a medium bowl, combine the chicken, ranch dressing, and 3/4 cup shredded cheese.
- Unroll crescent roll dough sheet and spread chicken mixture evenly on top.
- Starting with the long side, roll up dough. Pinch seam to seal tightly.
- Using a sharp knife, cut roll into 8 equal slices. Place slices into greased pan.
- Place pan into oven and bake 18-20 minutes.
- Once baked through, remove from oven and allow to cool a few minutes before serving. Serve with additional Ranch dressing if desired.
Tips for making Ranch Chicken Roll-Ups
- Allow roll up’s to cool slightly before serving so they set up a bit and don’t fall apart.
- Don’t over cook the crescents. Once slightly golden brown, they are ready to be removed from the oven.
- To save on prep time, use Rotisserie chicken for the shredded chicken.
- Use the crescent rolls while they are still chilled from the fridge. This makes the dough easier to work with and won’t be as messy and sticky when adding in the chicken mixture.
- If you don’t have a 9-inch round baking pan, feel free to use a baking sheet as well.
Variations to try
- To make easy chicken bacon ranch roll-ups, add in 1-2 cups of cooked, crumbled bacon pieces to the mixture.
- If you want the chicken mixture to be creamier, use softened cream cheese. About 4 ounces combined with the rest of the ingredients is perfect.
- Add in some veggies such as chopped bell peppers, onions, or carrot slivers.
- Use a seasoned Ranch dressing for more flavor. We love using Chipotle Ranch for an added kick.
- Feel free to use shredded turkey in place of the chicken. This is a great way to use up leftover Holiday meat. Even diced ham works!
Storing Ranch Chicken Rollups
Once cooked, these chicken crescent roll ups store easily and are perfect on the go! Here are some tips to ensure freshness:
- Allow the roll ups to fully cool before placing in an airtight storage container or bag in the fridge up to 5 days.
- To freeze, place in a freezer safe container up to 3 months. Allow to thaw before reheating.
- To reheat, heat in microwave in 30 second increments until heated through. You can also heat in the air fryer at 300 degrees for about 5-8 minutes.

Do you put the chicken in the unbaked dough bowls or are they filled later? How well do these freeze and ifnso before or after cooking?
Thanks!
Kristin
