several spices combined to create a Mexican blend to use on any dish

There have been so many times that I have wanted to make a recipe, only to be missing one main ingredient……taco seasoning. That is the worst, right?!

No worries though because once you try this, you will always have taco seasoning on hand! Using a few staple ingredients, this seasoning comes together in no time and can be adjusted to taste.

Kick up the flavor of any dish using this Homemade Taco seasoning recipe. Budget friendly, fresh, and you have full control of what goes into it, you’ll never want store bought packets again!

You can alter it anyway you prefer to fit your tastes! If you want a bit more heat, add extra red pepper flakes. Love onion, add some more! The choices are endless!

What ingredients are needed for Homemade Taco Seasoning:

    • Chili Powder
    • Ground Cumin
    • Paprika
    • Salt/Pepper
    • Garlic Powder
    • Onion Powder
    • Red Pepper Flakes
    • Dried Oregano

This version makes 9 tbsp total, so I put it in a small storage container and pull it out when needed.

*Keep unused seasoning in a sealed mason jar or air-tight container for up to 3 months.

    How to make taco meat:

    1. Brown 1 lb ground beef (or turkey) with ½ diced onion. Cook until meat is no longer pink.
    2. Drain fat.
    3. Add in 2 tablespoon homemade seasoning as well as ¼ cup water.
    4. Stir to fully incorporate and allow to simmer for about 5 minutes, or until water has reduced.
    5. Serve in taco shells with toppings of your choosing.
