Have you seen these Crispy Parmesan-Crusted Potatoes going viral on Tik Tok and the internet? Using simple ingredients, these are easy to bake up and can pair with any dish! Perfect as a side, but can even be enjoyed as a snack or appetizer option! We love this easy recipe because of how customizable they are, budget friendly, and crowd friendly. Any time we have company over, these potatoes are almost always on the menu!

    Ingredient Notes

Below is a brief overview of each ingredient needed to make these Crispy Crunchy Parmesan Potatoes! To see exact ingredient amounts with step by step directions, scroll to the bottom of this post or click the “jump to recipe” button at the top.

    • Potatoes– I love using mini Yukon Gold potatoes in this recipe because they are small, tender, and tend to cook quickly. The baby gold potatoes have great flavor too!
    • Butter– I prefer using unsalted butter because of the Parmesan cheese added that can be rather salty. If you prefer using salted butter, that works great too.
    • Parmesan Cheese– grated Parmesan cheese is best whether that be freshly grated cheese or the powdered Parmesan cheese that comes in that classic green can! This cheese gives the potatoes a rich flavor.
    • Black Pepper– this is just to add more flavor. Feel free to use garlic powder, Oregano, fresh minced garlic, onion powder, or any other seasoning desired.

all the ingredients needed to make Parmesan Crusted Potatoes.

How to make Crusted Parmesan Potatoes

Pour butter onto the bottom of a 9 x 13 baking dish. Sprinkle Parmesan generously over the melted butter. Sprinkle pepper over Parmesan. Place baby gold potatoes, cut side down, into the butter Parmesan mixture. Place baking pan in a preheated oven, 400 degrees, and bake for about 45 minutes. Once golden brown, remove from oven and allow to sit out for 10 minutes prior to removing from pan. PRO TIP: this helps things get more crispy! Garnish with fresh Parsley if desired.

    Variations and Substitutions

Want to change these up to make them your own? Here are some great options to try:

    • Seasonings– feel free to add in any and every seasoning or herb desired. From minced garlic to give it more of a Crispy Garlic Potato, that will be delicious! You can also add Italian seasoning, Thyme, Cayenne Pepper, red pepper flakes, rosemary, or lemon pepper seasoning.
    • Bacon– cooked, crumbled bacon can be added to the butter mixture to enhance the flavor. After all, who doesn’t LOVE bacon??
    • Onions– add some finely chopped onions to the butter mixture.
    • Cheese– once cooked and ready to serve, you can sprinkle additional Parmesan cheese or Mozzarella cheese over the tik tok roasted potatoes.
    • Olive Oil– although this is an added step, you can toss the potatoes in a small amount of olive oil with the seasonings before adding into the butter mixture. This coats the Parmesan crusted potatoes a bit more and ensures each bite is loaded with flavor.
    • Sauce– serve with Ranch dressing or my Southern Comeback Sauce as a dipping option.

    Storing Crispy Parmesan Crusted Potatoes

These Parmesan-roasted potatoes are best enjoyed fresh from the oven as they are crispy, hot, and tender. If you have leftovers, allow to cool completely before moving to an airtight container and placing in the refrigerator up to 4 days. You can reheat using the microwave, air fryer, or oven at a low temperature. I don’t recommend freezing as the texture changes and won’t be as flavorful.

Zesty Italian Potatoes– crispy on the outside and soft and tender on the inside, these take no effort at all. The most perfect addition to any meal!

Grilled Cheesy Garlic Potatoes– cheesy, flavorful potatoes that are cooked in tin foil, create an easy to clean up side dish!! Perfect for any BBQ or gathering

Hash Brown Potato Bake– also known as Funeral Potatoes, this is a classic casserole dish associated with comfort and family. Packed with flavor, this dish compliments any meal!

Slow Cooker Cheesy Hash Brown Casserole– an easy casserole loaded with hash browns, cheese, seasonings, and more! Easy to enjoy any time of the day!

It says half lengthwise but you can clearly see these are cut into rounds? Does it matter?

I go both ways cutting these days! Either works! Originally I kept it to lengthwise, but after doing it “wrong” a few times, it worked great too!

Yep, I just haven’t uploaded new pictures. I have tweaked the recipe after making it several times, so the recipe is updated, the pictures aren’t. However, both versions of slicing work great!

The pic doesn’t represent the recipe. Thick slices vs cutting in half lengthwise. I’m guessing it’s better with thick slices, but errors like this make a person doubt a recipe.

Do you peel potatoes before cooking or leave skins on

I leave the skins on, however, you can go either way depending on preference!

Depending on the size of your potatoes, sometimes it can take more time. Hopefully they turn out yummy and you enjoy them, keep me posted!

Please specify whether the parmesan cheese is the shredded or the grated kind you sprinkle on spaghetti. Thank you.

I make something like this, I take a little flour, parmesan, salt and pepper and some garlic powder, I chunk the potatoes and put it all in a bag like shake and bake, throw a couple pads of butter in the pan bake at 350 until tender….don’t forget to toss them a bit so it gets brown all over…..

I feel like these would be better with a full coating instead of just the bottom… But I like things extra crispy 🙂 Haven’t tried this recipe yet, but has anyone tried something like dipping the slices in the butter then sprinkling the cheese and pepper over top too instead of just the bottom? Wondering how it would turn out. Would the flavor be too strong?
