This mayonnaise-based BBQ sauce was invented in 1925 by Robert ‘Big Bob’ Gibson at Big Bob Gibson’s Bar-B-Q restaurant, in Decatur. It can be enjoyed as a marinade, basting sauce, and/or dipping sauce.
You may be thinking that a mayonnaise-based BBQ sauce doesn’t sound the best but let me tell you…it’s a must try! My family loves to enjoy this sauce over shredded chicken in a sandwich, but we also love dipping our fries in it as well! Even burgers are kicked up a notch when this sauce is included!

Alabama White BBQ Sauce
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- In a medium bowl, whisk together all ingredients until smooth and combined.
- Pour into mason jars and refrigerate until ready to use!
