A few weeks ago, my neighbors were having a dinner party and I volunteered to bring an appetizer. Since chips and dip are always hits at any party, I decided to make a new dip!! I added the ingredients into a disposable pan, popped it in the oven, and the end result was definitely a hit!! Clean up was incredibly easy since I used a disposable pan!
The cheesy layer on top was my favorite part, but the warmth of the dip (since it is cooked) was an added bonus since it was a cool Texas night (rare, I know)!
Plus, living in Texas, I get points for making a “Texas” dip, right??
This is the perfect snack/appetizer for any gathering and a real crowd winner!! So simple, budget friendly, and always a favorite with everyone!

I made this dip last night for a bible study group, and it was all gone by the time I left! I made a couple modifications. I added roasted bell peppers, sautéed onion and garlic, Roma tomatoes, spring onions, and poblano pepper. I also swapped out cream cheese for cottage cheese. I meant to add the taco seasoning, but I totally forgot I had it. So, I did my own seasonings of cumin, garlic powder, salt, pepper, chili powder, and cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper really enhanced the flavor! I also added a cup of mild chunky salsa. I think the liquid from the cottage cheese and salsa were the reason the amount doubled. I had enough for two 9 inch pie pans!

Wow! Love the changes you made!! So glad you enjoyed it!!

Can you make this in a crockpot? The recipe sounds amazing and I’d love to make it for a party we are having in a few weeks
Kristin
Absolutely! Go ahead and assemble in your crockpot as directed in recipe, only place setting on low for about 1-2 hours. From there, switch to keep warm! Should work great!
Teri
