What is 5 minute Million Dollar Dip?

Also called the Neiman Marcus Million Dollar Dip recipe, this dip is a creamy, cheesy dip that comes together using only 5 simple ingredients. This recipe originated in the 1950’s by Helen Corbitt for a Neiman Marcus restaurant in Texas. She then published the recipe in her cookbook and it became a staple recipe made at gatherings, Holidays, and occasion. Using mayonnaise as the base, this dip is creamy, tangy, and delicious. You can enjoy it warm or cold, whichever you prefer! Whether served for Super Bowl, game day parties, gatherings, or having family over, this dip is a must try due to the flavor it brings!

Ingredients Needed to make 5 Ingredient Million Dollar Dip

Using simple ingredients, you can make this easy recipe in no time. This is a brief overview of each ingredient needed, as well as some substitution options. To see printable recipe card, scroll to the bottom of this post.

    • Green Onions– freshly chopped is best, however, you can also use chives or dried chives. Green onions give the dip a crunchy texture.
    • Cheddar Cheese– I like using freshly shredded Sharp cheddar cheese in this recipe, however, medium or mild work great too.
    • Mayonnaise– use your favorite brand as this is the base of the recipe.
    • Bacon– cooked and crumbled bacon works great, or you can use real bacon bits to save on time.
    • Almonds– slivered almonds bring a nice crunch and nutty flavor throughout.

    Substitutions and Variations

    • Sour Cream, Greek Yogurt, or Cream Cheese (at room temperature) are great substitution options in place of the mayo.
    • If you want to add some more flavor, you can use some Swiss cheese in place of some of the shredded Cheddar cheese. You can also stir in some blue cheese crumbles or Feta cheese.
    • Stir in 1-2 teaspoon garlic powder, a pinch Cayenne pepper, Ranch mix, Italian Seasoning, or onion powder for more flavor.
    • Add in a handful of diced jalapenos or a splash or two of hot sauce.
    • Add chicken or sausage to make it a hearty, protein option.

How to make this Easy Million Dollar Dip

    1. In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, shredded cheese, green onions, bacon bits, and almonds.
    2. Stir until combined.
    3. Place bowl in fridge for a minimum of 2 hours.
    4. Serve with crackers of choice.

What to serve with Neiman Marcus Dip

My favorite cracker to use is Ritz Crackers, however, you can easily use tortilla chips, Frito’s, or pretzels. Bagel Chips, Crostini, or pita chips are great options too. For healthier choices, you can use fresh veggies like carrot sticks, cucumbers, celery sticks, or sugar snap peas. This dip recipe is ever great spread on a bagel and toasted in the air fryer for a few minutes.

    Storing Million Dollar Dip

    • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 4 days.
    • To make ahead, you can make this up to 3 days in advance and store covered in the refrigerator. The dip will firm up a bit once chilled, so give it a good stir before serving. You can sprinkle some additional fresh toppings on before serving.
