Are you a chocolate lover? I sure am! Anytime chocolate is involved, I’m in Heaven! In fact, dessert doesn’t count unless its chocolate, right?!

Rice, chocolate flavor in every bite of these Cast Iron Skillet Brownies! Simple, easy to prepare homemade brownies that satisfy any chocolate lover!

My hubby isn’t as big of a chocolate fan as me, but still loves a good brownie! Over the years, our go to brownie has always been Ghirardelli fudge brownies. Yes, a boxed mix. Not only do they cook perfectly each and every time, but the fudgy chocolate, ooey gooey flavor throughout just can’t be beat!

Typically, I go to Costco and buy a big box of the mix. That way, we always have a dessert option on hand when one of us gets a sweet tooth craving.

The other week, I was in the mood for brownies and went to the pantry to grab a mix. Unfortunately, my daughter had made brownies a few weeks earlier, used the last mix, and never put the box in the garbage. I ended up finding the empty box, no mix inside!

Since I was set on brownies at this point, I decided to browse through some old cookbooks to see what I could come up with.

After only a few minutes, I had the foundation for these brownies and with only a few tweaks, changes, and addition of my handy cast iron skillet…these brownies were ready for the oven!

The brownies themselves are rich, chocolate packed, and go perfectly with a scoop of ice-cream!

    Frequently asked questions:

What if I don’t have a cast iron skillet? No worries! You can use a 9×13 baking pan and increase the cook time a bit.

Can I change up the chocolate used in this recipe? Absolutely! I have used dark chocolate chips, semi-sweet, milk chocolate, and all are great!

How do I store these? Allow the brownies to cool completely before slicing and storing in an airtight container. These can be stored in a container at room temperature for up to 4 days, or frozen for up to 3 months.

What do I serve these brownies with? A good brownie sundae is always a favorite! Add some ice-cream, chocolate sauce, sprinkles, whipped cream, and/or a cherry and make it your own!

What size cast iron should I use? I use a 10-inch skillet, but you can use a smaller/larger one, just decrease/increase cook time accordingly.

These are very rich! As good as any boxed! I added a little coconut & pecan pieces to the top & tasted like German Chocolate Brownies. So easy so good!
