Bunny Bait Easter Snack Mix is a fun and sweet mixture typically made with ingredients like Chex cereal, pretzels, white chocolate, and Pastel colored candies. A Spring-themed snack mix recipe that can be put into individual treat bags for gifting or Easter baskets, or served in a large bowl if hosting parties, Easter celebrations, etc. With so many customization options to make this your own, this recipe is the perfect Easter treat! Ingredient Notes

Below is a brief overview of each ingredient needed. To see printable recipe card with step by step directions, scroll to the bottom or click the “jump to recipe” button at the top of the post.

    • Chex Cereal– I use Rice Chex Cereal, however, you can also use Corn or Wheat Chex Cereal. Store brand works great too and tends to be a bit cheaper in price.
    • Pretzels– I like using "itty bitty" mini pretzels for snack mixes., feel free to use pretzel sticks, pretzel squares, or mini twists.
    • Cheerios– my kids love adding honey nut cheerios, however, any flavor works great in this snack mix.
    • M&M Candies– look for the Easter bright pastel colors to make it more festive in color. If making this for any other Holiday, simply swap out to fit.
    • Marshmallows– I use miniature marshmallows, regular size works too, you may just want to cut them a bit smaller. Peeps are fun too, like in my Peeps Bars!
    • Almond Bark– vanilla almond bark works great, you can also use Ghirardelli white chocolate chips or white baking chocolate. If you have vanilla candy melts, feel free to use those up too.
all the ingredients needed to make bunny bait.

    Optional Add In’s and Substitutions

If you are looking for ways to customize this more to make it your own, here are some additional ideas:

    • Popcorn– this adds a tasty salty addition. We use butter popcorn, but any flavor works great.
    • Peanuts– if you’re looking for a tasty crunch, this is the perfect addition. Any type of nuts work great too.
    • Cereal– feel free to swap out the cheerios with any cereal desired. We have used Kix, Lucky Charms, Rice Krispies, Captain Crunch, Honey-O’s, and more!
    • Candy– any small candies work great in this. Sprinkles are a great addition for a pop of color. You can also chop up candy bars. We have added in jelly beans and mini candy eggs a few times and it’s a yummy option too.

step by step on how to make bunny bait.

    Tips for Success

    • This can be made gluten free by using gluten free pretzels, Chex cereal, and candies. Make sure you read the labels to ensure all ingredients are gluten free!
    • Break the set up candy pieces into smaller pieces if serving to little ones.
    • If you don’t have parchment paper, feel free to use wax paper, aluminum foil, or a silicone baking mat.
    • Be gentle when coating the cereal in the chocolate mixture, we don't want the cereal to break apart while stirring.
    • Gather all ingredients BEFORE starting to make the bunny mix. Once the chocolate is melted, you will need to work quickly, so it keeps things quick when packages are open, candies are accessible, etc.
    • Since this is good for about 1 week at room temperature, feel free to make in advance of when needed and save yourself time.

    Storing Tips

Store Bunny Bait in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. We like this snack mix best when enjoyed within 3-4 days. You can freeze your Bunny Bait in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months, then thaw on the counter when you are ready to serve.
