Growing up, my mom used to make monkey bread for us. It was probably one of my most favorite breakfasts. It was always a fun treat when we would come downstairs and she would surprise us with it!! This version reminds me of orange cinnamon rolls, which are also a favorite of mine. It was quite a yummy breakfast and a great variation on the original version I have loved for many years!!
1 cup sugar
2 tbsp fresh orange zest
1/3 cup orange juice
1/4 cup melted butter
2 cans Pilsbury or other brand biscuits, cut into fourths
In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and orange zest. Set aside. In a different small bowl, mix together the orange juice and melted butter. Dip the biscuit fourths one by one into the butter mixture and then coat in the sugar mixture. Place into a greased bundt pan. Once all the biscuits are in the pan, pour remaining butter/orange juice mixture on top, coating evenly. Place pan in a preheated oven, 375, and bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven, allow to cool 5 minutes before turning pan over onto a serving plate. You can sprinkle extra orange zest on top if desired!
