Salted Caramel Brownies are rich and fudgy packed with chocolate chips, flaky salt, and ooey gooey caramel! Perfect for any sweet tooth craving!

fudge like brownies with a caramel center and sprinkled salt topping

If you love chocolate and caramel, this is the dessert for you. This is definitely a must try recipe!!

Last weekend, I was craving chocolate, but was feeling too lazy to make something complicated. I asked my hubby what sounded good, and we both decided on brownies.

Since I was tired of a plain ol’ brownie, I raided the pantry in hopes for finding something to jazz it up. I came across a bag of caramels and knew we could put those to use! My hubby even offered to make the dessert, so away he went whipping these up!

Salted Caramel Brownies have a gooey caramel center packed in a fudgy chocolate brownie, with sea salt sprinkled on top!

In no time, we had fudge like, chocolate brownies, with a gooey caramel layer in the middle. These made an amazing dessert, and we definitely will be making them again! Brownie points (pun intended) for my hubby since he was the one that did all the work!!

I’m curious as to why we’re baking the bottom layer for a 40 minute bake time as opposed to half that for the top layer when they’re about the same volume of batter. Have you experienced any burning or overcooking of the bottom layer? It seems the brownie batter takes 20 minutes to reach doneness, but exposure to the conductive bottom of the pan for double that time concerns me. Thank you!!

You bake the bottom for 20 minutes, then add the caramel layer and top layer, baking for another 20. Because the bottom is covered with the caramel and brownie, you want to make sure it gets baked through first, but being covered for the second bake time, it doesn’t burn it. It stays moist and delicious! Enjoy!

You have flour listed twice and heavy cream listed twice. Is it 1/2c plus 2TB flour and 4TB heavy cream?

Yes! Sorry for the confusion, it is 1/2 cup plus 2 tbsp flour as well as the heavy cream! Enjoy!!
