Ingredients Needed to make these Easy Loaded Big Mac Fries
Below is a brief overview of each ingredient needed. To see printable recipe card with exact amounts, scroll to the bottom of this post.
- Fries– use your favorite frozen french fries, or feel free to make homemade fries. This is the base of the recipe, so be sure to use your favorite. Sweet potato fries work great too. I love using Checkers frozen fries and cooking them in my air fryer.
- Beef– lean ground beef is best, I use 90/10 or 80/20 and drain the grease once cooked through. You can also use ground turkey if preferred.
- Olive Oil– you’ll use this to saute the onion and cook until translucent.
- Pickles– sliced, I use about 2-3 pickles, however, you can also buy the jarred slices to make it easier.
- Lettuce– shredded iceberg lettuce is my go-to, any type shredded works great though.
- Cheese– shredded Cheddar cheese is best, try to freshly grate it versus using shredded bags as it melts easier.
- Salt/ Black Pepper/ Garlic Powder– this seasons the recipe, feel free to use any seasonings in addition to these listed. Onion powder is a great option too. Minced garlic cloves can be used in place of the garlic powder if desired.
- Onion– one small white onion, chopped.
SAUCE
- Mayonnaise– any brand works great.
- Relish– I use dill pickle relish, any brand works.
- Sugar– this adds just the right amount of sweetness throughout and combines with the vinegar perfectly.
- Vinegar– white wine vinegar adds the right amount of tart and tangy to the sauce.
- Mustard– classic yellow mustard.
- Paprika/ Salt/ Pepper– season to taste.
How to make Loaded Fries
- Preheat the oven to 425°F.
- Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup. Spread the fries on the sheet in an even layer and cook according to the package directions.
- Meanwhile, roughly dice the onion. Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium heat with olive oil. Add the diced onion and cook until translucent.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook until browned, around 7 to 10 minutes. Drain excess grease.
- Remove the fries from the oven. Spread the beef evenly over the fries. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese across the pan, then return it to the oven. Bake for an additional 3 to 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, then remove from the oven.
- Prepare the sauce by mixing all the sauce ingredients in a bowl until combined.
- Top the fries with sliced pickles, chopped lettuce, and the prepared sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. Serve and enjoy!
Tips for Success
- Make sure your fries are crispy! You don’t want soggy fries as they won’t hold up once loaded. You can bake in the oven, fry them, use the air fryer, etc. Just ensure crispiness.
- Cook uncovered the entire process. You don’t need to cover the top as it bakes.
- If making for a smaller crowd, you can assemble on in a small dish versus using a large cookie sheet.
- This loaded french fries recipe is best fresh from the oven. Try to time it to where you can enjoy as soon as its removed and still hot.
Storing Loaded Big Mac Fries
- Although these are best enjoyed fresh, you can store the homemade sauce in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
- Feel free to cook the meat and onion and keep in a container in the fridge up to 4 days. You can assemble and use the meat and sauce once ready to cook.
