One of my most favorite quick desserts is a milkshake. There are SO many varieties and it is quite hard to mess up. The kids love to help me make these, so it is one of those things that gets us all in the kitchen, which is fun!
A few nights ago, we pulled out some vanilla ice cream and decided to make these milkshakes. Since I am not a huge fan of vanilla, most of my vanilla ice cream gets drenched with chocolate syrup, so it tastes more like chocolate, ha-ha! We added in fresh raspberries since the kids were adamant that it was “needed” in the drink. Let me tell you, they most definitely were right. The added flavor was amazing! This definitely goes down as one of my favorite milkshake recipes. It’s a super easy recipe and the flavor is perfect! The chocolate and raspberry gave just the right amount of sweetness!
Chocolate Raspberry Milkshake Ingredients
- Vanilla ice cream
- Chocolate syrup
- Fresh raspberries
- Milk (use whatever milk you prefer from whole milk to almond milk, it all works)
- Whipped Topping (optional)
*For exact measurements, see recipe card down below
Chocolate Raspberry Milkshake Directions
- Add the ice cream to the blender container.
- Pour in the chocolate syrup, raspberries, and milk.
- Place lid on blender and blend on high for about 30-45 seconds, or until smooth. If using a blender other than the Vitamix, you may just need to adjust blending time.
- Pour milkshake into cups and put a scoop of whipped topping on top.
- Enjoy your delicious milkshake!
**This will make about 6 servings, if you don’t need that much, cut the recipe in half.
How To Get the Perfect Milkshake Texture
We used a Vitamix to blend these together. If you don’t have a Vitamix, feel free to use whichever blender you do have! Just make sure you watch the consistency of the milkshake because if you over blend, it gets quite soupy. If you don’t blend enough, it will be thick and a bit clumpy.
Chocolate Raspberry Variations
- Chocolate ice cream: If you want to double the chocolate flavor, swap out the vanilla ice cream with chocolate.
- Heavy whipping cream: If you’re looking for a thicker texture, use heavy whipping cream instead of milk.
- Cocoa powder: If you don’t have chocolate syrup, powder works in a pinch!
- Raspberry sauce: Drizzle raspberry sauce on top if you’re feeling fancy!
- White chocolate chips: These are a fun addition as an addition to, or replacement of, the chocolate syrup! You can also add dark chocolate chips as well if you want to double the chocolate flavor!
