Ingredients Needed for this Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie
Full printable recipe card found at the bottom of this post. Here are the ingredients that you’ll need for this delicious skillet cookie:
- Melted Butter- I recommend using unsalted butter so that you can control the salt in the cookie
- Brown Sugar- Adds sweetness and moisture to the cookie and also helps creates a soft cookie
- Vanilla Extract- Enhances the other flavors in the cookie.
- Eggs- Helps create a tender skillet cookie and bind everything together.
- All-Purpose Flour- I prefer using unbleached flour whenever possible, but you don’t have to buy a special flour for this recipe. If you only have bleached all purpose flour, you can use that too
- Baking Soda- The baking soda helps create a soft fluffy cookie.
- Salt- The salt compliments the sweetness of the dough and enhances the other flavors. Without the cookie will taste flat.
- Chocolate Chips- I used milk chocolate, any kind works though
- M & M’s- use Holiday themed colors to fit the festive Holiday

Serving Ideas for Valentine’s Day Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie
This skillet cookie is perfect for any occasion. Feel free to change up the M & M colors and make this perfect for any Holiday! This cookie is great on it’s own – all soft, and warm with melted chocolate, but you can also serve it with:
- A scoop of your favorite ice-cream (or two scoops, I won’t judge)
- Hot Fudge, Chocolate Syrup, or Caramel Sauce
- Marshmallows, Sprinkles, and/or Whipped Cream
- Drizzled Peanut Butter on top for a chocolate peanut butter combination
Variations to try
- Add in pecans or walnuts to the batter for an added crunch
- Use a variety of chocolate chip flavors, including peanut butter chips or butterscotch chips
- Bake in a smaller (8 inch) skillet for a deep dish cookie experience (add 3 to 5 minutes to the cooking time) or bake in a larger skillet (12 inches) for a thinner, crispier skillet cookie (subtract 3 to 5 minutes from the cooking time).
Pro Tips for Making this Recipe
- Make sure you are correctly measuring all ingredients. Especially flour. Too much flour and the cookie will be too dry. Too little and it will be gooey.
- Use eggs in this recipe.
- Allow the butter to come to room temperature before placing in skillet to melt. This allows easier melting and less splatter.
- Fold the chocolate chips and M & M’s into the batter until just combined, don’t over-mix.
- I used a 10 inch skillet but the 12 inch works great as well. Check out these options here:

Thank you ida

Hi! No problem, you can use an 8×8 or 9×9 baking pan as well. Just adjust the cook time a bit as it may cook a bit longer!
