Celebrate fall with these Pumpkin Spice Brownies-rich, fudgy chocolate brownies swirled with creamy pumpkin cheesecake and warm pumpkin pie spice. This easy pumpkin brownie recipe starts with a boxed mix, making it perfect for quick weeknight treats, Halloween parties, or Thanksgiving dessert tables.

One fun fact about me-I have a HUGE brownie obsession. If I get a sweet tooth craving, nothing beats a warm, fudgy brownie topped with a scoop of chocolate ice cream. Over the years, I've tried just about every homemade brownie recipe, flavor twist, store-bought mix, and even over-the-top brownie sundaes from local restaurants. Some of my all-time favorites include Lunch Lady Brownies, Fudge Oreo Brownies, Pecan Pie Brownies, and now these rich, chocolatey Pumpkin Spice Brownies- the perfect fall twist on my favorite dessert.

Ingredient Notes

Below is a brief overview of each ingredient needed to make these easy pumpkin brownies with brownie mix. Scroll to the bottom for printable recipe card.
- Brownie Mix + ingredients from box – pick your favorite boxed brownie mix that makes an 8×8 baking dish and use it in this recipe. I prefer Ghiradelli, but any type works. You will also need to water, oil, and eggs listed on back of box.
- Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips - Adds richness; white chocolate chips also work beautifully with pumpkin.
- Cream Cheese - Softened to create a smooth swirl.
- Granulated Sugar - Balances the tang of cream cheese and pumpkin.
- Egg & Vanilla - Helps bind and enhance flavor.
- Pumpkin Puree - Canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling). Libby's is my go-to.
- Pumpkin Pie Spice - Brings in all the warm, cozy autumn notes. Feel free to also use some nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon, and/or cloves for additional flavor.
How to Make Pumpkin Spice Brownies

Step 3. Spread ⅔ of the brownie batter into the prepared pan.

Step 4. In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and granulated sugar until smooth.

Step 5. Add egg, vanilla, pumpkin puree, and pumpkin pie spice. Mix until combined.

Step 6. Spread pumpkin mixture over brownie base.

Step 7. Add the remaining brownie mixture over top of the pumpkin, and use a knife or toothpick to swirl layers together for a marbled look.

Step 8. Bake for 40-45 minutes in oven before slicing and placing on wire rack to cool.
Tips for the Best Pumpkin Brownies
- Use parchment for easy lifting and clean slicing.
- Add extra cinnamon or nutmeg for deeper fall flavor.
- Don’t love pumpkin? Feel free to use canned sweet potato in it’s place.
- For gluten-free brownies, use a gluten-free mix like King Arthur's.
- Need these dairy free? Use plant based cream cheese and egg alternative.
- Avoid over-mixing the batter as this will cause the brownies to be more cake like versus fudgy.

Storing Brownie Mix Pumpkin Brownies
