step by step picture tutorial on how to make chocolate pudding pie

A while back, my kiddos school was having a “pie drive”. Moms, dads, and family members were asked to make or buy pies to donate to the teachers. Each teacher would get to bring a pie home to enjoy over the school break!! Since I LOVE any and every opportunity to bake, I quickly signed up to bring two pies.

Since anything chocolate is a winner with me, I knew I wanted to make a chocolate pie! After heading to the store and getting some ingredients, this chocolate pudding pie came together in no time and looked quite pretty once assembled! My daughter’s art teacher ended up receiving one of the pies and took a bite proclaiming it to be “amazing”!

Since pie can be enjoyed any time of the year, this is a great sweet treat to make for family, friends, teachers, parties, or for that sweet tooth craving! It is incredibly simple to make, and you can have it ready to go in no time!!

    What is pudding pie?

Pudding pie is just what it sounds like…pudding in a pie! It is an old-fashioned recipe that has been around for many many years!

Whether you make your pudding entirely from scratch or go the store-bought route, the end result will be incredible! You can even use premade pie crust from the store to save on time!

Ingredients Needed for this Chocolate Pudding Pie:

    • 1 can (12 oz.) evaporated milk
    • 1 package (5.9 oz.) chocolate instant pudding
    • 6.5 oz. can Reddi Whip (cool whip in the can)
    • ½ cup mini chocolate chips
    • 1 graham cracker pie crust

How to prepare this easy pie:

    1. Pour evaporated milk into a bowl.
    2. Add in the dry pudding mix and using an electric mixer, beat until well blended and mixture starts to thicken up.
    3. Spray in the contents of the Reddi Whip leaving just a bit leftover in the can for topping.
    4. Mix Reddi Whip into mixture well until all is incorporated.
    5. Pour mixture into pie crust and spread evenly.
    6. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top of pie.
    7. Place pie in refrigerator for a minimum of 6 hours, or until set.
    8. Prior to serving, spray remaining Reddi Whip in decorative pattern on top.
    9. Serve and enjoy!!

How to store this chocolate pudding pie:

This pie needs to stay refrigerated until ready to serve as it will liquefy if not.

Simply cover with some tin foil (carefully) or with the pie plate lid and store in the refrigerator. If desired, you can also freeze this pie for a frozen treat!

*When ready to serve, slice with a sharp, skinny knife as it will help keep the shape of the pie intact!
