    Ingredient Notes

Here’s what you’ll need to whip up this indulgent mudslide cocktail. For full directions, scroll to the printable recipe card below or hit that handy “jump to recipe” button!

    • Vodka– I typically use regular vodka, but vanilla, whipped, or espresso vodka can give it an extra flavor boost.
    • Coffee Liqueur– I use Kahlua since I always have it on hand, but you can use any brand.
    • Irish Cream– Bailey’s is my go-to brand, however, any brand works. This is a creamy liqueur that combines cream, chocolate, and sugar with Irish Whiskey.
    • Ice-Cream– vanilla ice cream is the most popular flavor, however, you can also use chocolate ice cream or coffee flavored ice cream.
    • Chocolate Syrup– optional, but highly recommended. You’ll drizzle chocolate syrup on the inside of your glass before pouring the blended mixture and you can also add additional on top just before serving.

How to make a Frozen Mudslide Drink

With just a blender and a few ingredients, you’ll have a rich, easy boozy milkshake ready to enjoy in minutes!

    1. Blend it up: Add the vodka, Kahlua, Bailey’s, and vanilla ice cream to your blender.

    2. Blend until smooth: Secure the lid and blend for 20–30 seconds until creamy. Add ice cubes or more ice cream if you’d like it thicker.

    3. Serve it fancy: Drizzle chocolate syrup inside your glasses, pour in the blended drink, and top with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, chocolate sprinkles, or garnish with chocolate shavings. Serve immediately with straws and enjoy your homemade frozen mudslide cocktail!

    Frequently Asked Questions

    What is a mudslide drink?

This dessert cocktail mudslide is creamy, boozy cocktail made with vodka, Irish cream liqueur, and coffee liqueur. It’s often described as a sweet, decadent, and rich dessert in a glass. It originated in the 1950’s by a bartender called Old Judd at the Wreck Bar and Grill.

Can I make this mudslide drink recipe without ice-cream?

Absolutely! If you prefer not using ice-cream, use ice cubes in place. It won’t be as thick and creamy, but start with about 4 cups of ice cubes and adjust as needed.

How strong is this mudslide cocktail?

Don’t let this drink fool you. With 3 ounces of liquor in each glass, it packs a punch and should be enjoyed carefully. It may taste like a milkshake, but it can be dangerous if you have too many. Be responsible.

    How can I store this?

This is best served fresh, but you can make it ahead and freeze for up to 6 hours. Let it thaw slightly from the freezer before serving, and give it a quick blend again if needed.
