    Have you ever been to Keg’s Steakhouse and tried the famous Mushrooms Neptune appetizer?? Well if not, now you can try this recipe in the comfort of your own house!

    Years ago, when I first made these, I thought they would be good, but I didn’t realize HOW good they would be!

    After trying to original recipe at the restaurant, I decided to scour the internet and look for ideas/inspiration to recreate the dish.

    After a few trials, these creamy, flavor packed mushrooms came about and if I am being honest, they may even be BETTER than the original.

    I prepared a huge batch and brought them to a neighborhood get together a while back. Not only was the plate cleared in a matter of a few minutes, but I cannot tell you how many people requested the recipe right then and there. Since then, all I have officially been in charge of bringing an appetizer to parties/gatherings and this is one that is always expected!

    Sometimes, on a weekend afternoon, my hubby and I like to prepare a few different appetizers and simply use them as our meal throughout the afternoon. Changes things up, allows us to come and go, and who says you need to have a party or go somewhere to enjoy an appetizer, right?!!

    Ingredients Needed for this Mushroom Neptune recipe:

    Cream cheese

    Sour cream

    Swiss cheese

    Garlic clove, crushed

    Shrimp

    Crabmeat

    Green onion, chopped

    Pepper

    Mushrooms

    How to prepare:

    Combine- all ingredients.

    Mix well- until blended and fill mushroom caps. (Piping the caps with a pastry bag is a nice touch.).

    Bake- at 375ºF for 15 minutes or until slightly browned. Serve and enjoy!

    Equipment

    • Mixing Bowls
    • Cookie Sheet
    • Grater
    • Garlic Press

    Ingredients
      

    • 8 oz cream cheese *softened
    • 2 tablespoon sour cream
    • ¼ cup Swiss cheese *grated
    • 1 garlic clove *minced
    • 5 oz shrimp *I use small, canned
    • 5 oz crab meat *I use canned
    • Pepper *to taste
    • ⅓ cup green onion *chopped
    • 36 mushrooms *cleaned, stems removed

    Instructions
     

    • In a medium mixing bowl, combine all ingredients.
    • Mix well until blended and fill mushroom caps. (Piping the caps with a pastry bag is a nice touch.).
    • Bake at 375ºF for 15 minutes or until slightly browned.
