This past weekend, my family woke up on Saturday in the mood for something other than our normal cereal routine. I was looking around trying to come up with something new and found a box of funfetti cake mix. Okay, not the healthiest, and typically not something I look at when it is 7am, however, I made an exception. I decided to make donuts using the cake mix, and then add a glaze to the top! The kids were SO excited to be having donuts, and I think they were even more excited because of the sprinkles. These donuts had so much flavor, were quick to make, and although it did put us on a little sugar high, it was a fun variety to the morning!! I definitely recommend trying these out! They would be perfect for a birthday morning treat, a treat for a friend or neighbor, or just a fun breakfast!!
2 2/3 cups Funfetti cake mix (dry)
2/3 cup milk
2 tbsp oil
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
3 tbsp milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
In a bowl, add the cake mix, milk, oil, and eggs. Stir until combined. Grease or spray a donut pan. Scoop the batter into a bag and cut the corner so you can squeeze the batter into the donut pan. You can also use a cookie press. Fill donut pan about 2/3 high. Bake in a preheated oven, 350, for about 10 minutes. While donuts are baking, mix together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Once donuts are slightly golden brown, remove from over and place on a cooling rack. Slowly drizzle the glaze on top of donuts. Enjoy!
