Cozy, spiced, and creamy, this Gingerbread White Russian is the ultimate Christmas season cocktail! Perfect for holiday parties, fireside sipping, or a sneaky 'mom treat' after bedtime. Smooth vodka, Kahlua, and homemade gingerbread syrup come together in a drink that tastes like Christmas in a glass.

I love making seasonal spins on the classic White Russian like my Salted Caramel White Russian and Peppermint White Russian, but this gingerbread version is hands-down my favorite for December. Pair it with Christmas cookies like my Chocolate Crinkle Cookies or Christmas Kitchen Sink Cookies for the ultimate festive treat.

all the ingredients needed to make Gingerbread White Russian Cocktails.
    • Vodka - Regular vodka works, but vanilla vodka makes the gingerbread flavor pop.

    • Homemade Gingerbread Syrup - Water, sugar, molasses, cinnamon, nutmeg, quick and budget-friendly.
    • Cream - Heavy cream makes it perfectly creamy, but half-and-half or whole milk work too.
    • Corn syrup + brown sugar - For that sparkly sugar rim.
    • Ice - To chill the cocktail while shaking.

    Gingerbread Cocktail Recipe FAQs

Can I make the gingerbread syrup ahead of time?

Absolutely! Up to 2 weeks in advance! Store refrigerated in an airtight container. It's also fabulous in coffee, lattes, homemade hot chocolate, or poured over fluffy pancakes.

Can I make a Gingerbread White Russian without a cocktail shaker?

Yep! Just build it right in the glass with ice. Stir gently to get that creamy swirl effect.

Can I make a non-alcoholic Gingerbread White Russian?

Yes! Replace vodka + Kahlua with cooled brewed coffee or espresso. Add gingerbread syrup and cream, stir, and enjoy your Gingerbread White Russian Mocktail.

Can I batch this Gingerbread White Russian for a holiday party?

You bet. Multiply everything by 6-8 and keep chilled in a pitcher. Add cream right before serving so it stays smooth.

Can I use milk instead of half-and-half or cream in a Gingerbread White Russian?

Absolutely! Traditional White Russians use cream or half-and-half for extra richness, but whole milk works just fine if that's what you have on hand. Adjust to your taste for creaminess!

    • 1 oz Kahlua
    • 1 oz Gingerbread Syrup
    • 1 ½ oz Cream
    • Corn Syrup
    • Brown Sugar
    • Ice

    Homemade Gingerbread Syrup

    • 1 cup water
    • 1 cup sugar
    • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
    • 2 tablespoon molasses
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

    Instructions

    Prepare Homemade Gingerbread Syrup

    • Add 1 cup of water, 1 cup of sugar, ¼ tsp. nutmeg, 2 tbsp. molasses, and 1 tsp. cinnamon to a medium saucepan. Heat over medium high, to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer 8-10 minutes. Allow the syrup to cool before using, and store any leftovers in an airtight container.

    Prepare Drink

    • For the rim, add a shallow layer of corn syrup to a plate, and a shallow layer of brown sugar to another plate. Dip the glass in the corn syrup, letting the excess drip off. Then, dip into the brown sugar.
    • For the drink, add ice, vodka, gingerbread syrup, and cream to a cocktail shaker.
    • Shake well to combine and chill. Pour strained drink into prepared glass.
    • Slowly pour the kahlua down the side of the drink. Enjoy!

    Notes

    • For a lighter Holiday White Russian, use half-and-half.
    • To make it without alcohol, swap vodka and Kahlua for cooled coffee.
    • Homemade gingerbread syrup adds amazing flavor: perfect for coffee, lattes, or fluffy pancakes!
