These classic Blood Orange Margaritas are refreshing and the perfect cocktail to sip on whether afternoon or evening! Gorgeous in color, these are a hit at any gathering!

using fresh blood oranges, these margaritas are refreshing and vibrant

Have you all been quarantining? My kids have been home for a few weeks now and aren’t to go back to school for at least a few more weeks. Even my hubby was told he needed to start working from home. Being a family of five, that entails lots of chaos in our house. Between both myself and hubby trying to work, trying to help the kids with their homeschool work, and keep up with normal life, it’s a juggling act these days!

A few days ago, I ventured out to the grocery store in hopes at stocking up on a few things. No, I haven’t succumbed to hoarding toilet paper quite yet, ha-ha!

My hope was to grab fresh produce to use for various meals. After looking around though, my favorites were definitely out of stock. Strawberries, gone. Bananas, gone. Etc.

I was able to score a bag of blood oranges and that was definitely a win! My kids love oranges, so I assumed they would love these too!

These Blood Orange Margaritas are the perfect way to use this vibrant fruit! Add tequila and lime for a stunning citrus cocktail.

Well, fast forward to lunch and me attempting to serve the blood oranges. I guess they were a bit sweeter/sour than normal oranges, so my kids had quite a time eating their slices with straight faces, ha-ha!

They enjoyed them, but it was one of those “I’ll eat these every few days” kind of experiences.

refreshing, flavorful margaritas made using blood oranges

Needless to say, I had a huge bag of oranges and zero confidence they would be enjoyed by the time they went bad.

Mentioning it to my hubby later that day and the bartender mentality in him immediately thought of drink combinations to try. Some ideas seemed better than others and before I knew it, he had whipped these margaritas up.

Not only was I impressed with the color, but the flavor was great! Quite refreshing, not too sweet, and definitely a great change from classic margaritas!

Most importantly, this is a skinny version, so you can enjoy two! Of course, drink responsibly!
