Boozy Coffee Milkshakes
Are you a dessert fan? I sure am! Anything from cake, brownies, and cookies, to milkshakes! When I was little, my mom would make milkshakes using ice-cream, raspberry jam, milk, and chocolate syrup. Anytime we didn’t have dessert in the house, she would whip up a batch of milkshakes and all our sweet tooth cravings were immediately satisfied. That is where my love for milkshakes began.
This Boozy Amarula Coffee Milkshake is probably one of my favorite desserts and it’s SO easy to whip up and serve when entertaining! You can easily make this for a simple after-dinner sweet treat in just a few minutes and serve them to guests immediately. However, it’s also perfect for a movie night and just relaxing at home in the evening!
The coffee ice-cream pairs pairs perfectly with the Amarula making these a must try treat!
What is Amarula?
Amarula is a cream liqueur from South Africa. It is made with sugar, cream and the fruit of the African marula tree which is also locally called the elephant tree or the marriage tree. It is a delightful exotic fruit liqueur, not as heavy as Baileys Irish Cream because it is made from the Marula fruit, which when fermented assures you receive ample sugars during your consumption.
Ingredients Needed for Amarula Coffee Milkshakes
Using only a few ingredients, these milkshakes come together in no time and are a creamy, delectable sweet treat!
- Ice-Cream- I use coffee flavored ice-cream because its a favorite of ours, feel free to also use vanilla or chocolate ice-cream
- Amarula- you’ll find this near Bailey’s Irish Cream in your local liquor store
- Milk
- Chocolate Syrup- optional, but highly recommended
Step by Step Instructions
-
In a blender container, add the ice-cream, milk, and Amarula.
-
Blend on high for about 2 minutes, or until all is smooth.
-
Drizzle chocolate syrup inside two glasses.
-
Pour milkshake into glasses and serve immediately!
Milkshake Tips
- If you are going to drink right away, don’t let your ice cream get too soft.
- Feel free to have fun with this and add any toppings or add in’s desired such as marshmallows, jam, candies, and more.
- Add milk slowly until desired consistency is reached. If you prefer a thicker milkshake, add less milk.
- Enjoy milkshakes immediately as they do not save well due to the ice-cream melting.
- Serve with a colorful reusable straw, silicone straw, paper straw or bamboo straw.
