When I was little, my mom would make these crackers around the Holidays, put them into jars, add a ribbon or bow, and give them to friends/neighbors. She would include them with her goodie plates from Holiday baking, so everyone always enjoyed all the treats!
As I got older and became a mom of my own, I took on the tradition of Holiday baking and creating goodie tins for the neighbors. The only difference, I completely had forgotten about those tasty crackers, therefore, never made them until recently!
One afternoon, as I was browsing through my social media, I came across a post for Cajun seasoned oyster crackers. The recipe reminded me of the Ranch version I grew up enjoying and I immediately pulled out the recipe I had.
Needing only 5 ingredients, I was able to have a batch prepared in no time!
Crunchy ranch seasoned oyster crackers coated in dill and garlic – a super easy snack mix!
My original plan was to make them as gifts for others, however, they have been such a huge hit with my kids and husband, it’s hard to keep them in the house for longer than a day or two!
My kids enjoy these for snacks, with lunches, paired with tuna, and even in their soups/chili!
To change things up a bit and add a slight kick to these, I sprinkled a bit of Cajun seasoning on top of the crackers prior to baking in the oven. Not only did it add some great flavor, but it also gave these a slight kick without becoming “spicy”. My kids haven’t mentioned anything about “spice”, so don’t be afraid to add a little Cajun seasoning to yours as well!

I love this recipe, but I’ve never tried adding Cajun seasoning so I’m going to try that next time. To ensure it covers the crackers evenly, any reason I couldn’t add it to the original spice mixture before adding the crackers?

Yay! Glad to hear you are going to try it, keep me posted what you think! You most definitely can add it to the mixture, I just like a little control on how much I add in the end and sometimes I add more, other times less, but you can’t go wrong either way! Enjoy!

You can cook in a microwave for two minutes on high. Stir, then two more minutes on high. All done, without heating up the oven.
Kristin
Great tip! That will definitely save on time and heat in the kitchen during the warmer months, thanks!
