Easy BBQ Baked Beans

Growing up, my mom used to make these for any parties, BBQ’s, picnics, etc. Every time she would make these, I would always scoop tons onto my plate. They have definitely been a favorite of mine for years!! Not only are these packed with flavor, but they are incredibly simple to make as well. This recipe can be doubled and put into a 9×13 baking pan if serving a lot of people!! Using only 5 ingredients, this is definitely an easy side dish!! Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • (2) 16-18 oz cans of baked beans
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 6 slices of bacon, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 cup ketchup

Directions:

  1. Grease an 8×8 baking pan.
  2. Mix together the beans, brown sugar, dry mustard, and ketchup.
  3. Pour into the baking pan.
  4. Place sliced bacon pieces (uncooked) on top of the beans.
  5. Place baking pan in a preheated oven, 325, and bake for about 2 hours.

Our family made a similar dish but add chopped green onions, celery and green peppers. Drain beans first. Add prepared mustard and brown sugar in proportion desired as to tartness or sweetness. Do not add ketchup! Finish as u said. I cover mine with foil for part of baking.

Have you ever tried this and then just sprinkled cooked bacon bits on top before cooking?? Or tried it without the bacon?? Just curious. Thanks!!

Yep, 8 x 8 is perfect. I doubled the recipe for the picture because I had gone to a BBQ and needed to bring a bigger dish. Enjoy!

Can these be made a day ahead of time and then reheated/warmed in a crock pot the day of?

No problem at all!! I would decrease the time to about an hour, but its not a problem to go longer! Just eye it until its all bubbly and warmed through!
