peanut butter, oats, honey, and banana combined into a smoothie

With three small kids, sometimes breakfast ends up being a granola bar, yogurt on the run, or simply skipping the meal all together. I know, that is not good, but hey, all three kids are fed, so that is good, right??

Years ago, when we lived in Seattle, one of my friends had me over for coffee one morning and started raving about her new blender. I had been in the market for a blender, so I immediately checked hers out and fell in love. She had a Vitamix and after listening to all the features it offered, I ended up buying one to make soups, smoothies, drinks, and more!

My first attempt at a smoothie was pretty awful. I had added way too many vegetables, too much milk, and ended up with a brownish green colored drink that was too liquid like, with bits of chunks throughout. One sip in and my entire family said no.

My next attempt was much better, in fact, this recipe is actually one that was my first real success! My kids took one sip of this smoothie and immediately asked for a refill!

No longer am I skipping, grabbing one of those sugar filled granola bars, or eating a yogurt stick on the go. This smoothie is packed with flavor and keeps me feeling full until lunchtime.

In fact, I am able to pour this into my travel cup and carry it to the bus stop, so I can even multi task. Even my kids are huge fans of it, so we typically double to recipe and they each get their own cups as well!

all ingredients added into the blender ready to be blended together

Ingredients Needed for this Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal Smoothie:

    • Peanut butter
    • Vanilla Greek yogurt
    • Milk (I use unsweetened vanilla almond milk in all my smoothies)
    • Quick oats
    • Ground cinnamon
    • Banana
    • Raw honey
    • Ice cubes (omit if using frozen banana)

    How to prepare:

Add ingredients- place all ingredients into the blender container.

Blend- place lid securely on blender and blend for about 30 seconds. You may need to adjust time if using blender other than Vitamix

Pour into glass- serve and enjoy!!
