Enjoy a tasty holiday treat with these Christmas chocolate covered Oreos. Perfect for parties or as a homemade gift, these festive cookies will be a hit with everyone.
Line a baking sheer with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Melt the chocolate: you can use the double broiler system or the microwave. · For the double broiler: Fill a small saucepan with about 1-2 inches of water and bring it to a simmer. Place a heatproof bowl over the saucepan and ensure no water gets inside the bowl. Add the chocolate chips to the bowl. Stir continuously until the chocolate is melted and smooth.· For the microwave option, place chocolate into a microwave-safe bowl and give it 60-second rounds until it fully melts. You’ll need to stir the chocolate around to ensure it doesn’t burn and it’s evenly melted.
Using a fork or a chocolate dipping tool, dip each Oreo cookie into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off before placing the dipped cookie onto the prepared baking sheet.
While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle with your choice of decorations (sprinkles, chopped nuts, etc.). Allow the chocolate-dipped Oreos to set at room temperature for about 1 hour, or place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 20minutes to speed up the process.
For the Christmas version: add a few drops of red or green food coloring to a few tablespoons of melted white chocolate and drizzle it over the chocolate-covered cookies.
