This easy Cheeseburger French Fry Casserole combines seasoned ground beef, cheddar cheese, a creamy ketchup and mustard sauce, and crispy frozen French fries into a family-friendly dinner that's perfect for busy weeknights.
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until it's no longer pink, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Drain the grease.
In a small bowl, stir together the dill pickle relish, ketchup, mustard, garlic, and cream of mushroom soup until well combined.
Transfer the cooked ground beef to the prepared baking dish, spreading it into an even layer.
Spread the ketchup and mustard sauce evenly over the ground beef mixture.
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
Arrange the frozen French fries in an even layer over the cheddar cheese.
Bake for about 40 minutes, or until the French fries are golden brown and crispy. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes, then serve warm.
Notes
Don't thaw the French fries. Add them straight from the freezer so they bake up golden and crispy.
Drain the ground beef well to keep the casserole from becoming greasy.
For crispier fries, broil the casserole for 2-3 minutes after baking, watching carefully.
Prep ahead: Assemble the casserole up to 24 hours in advance, cover, and refrigerate. Add a few extra minutes to the baking time if baking straight from the refrigerator.
Soup substitutions: Cream of cheddar, cream of chicken, or cream of onion soup all work well in place of cream of mushroom soup.
Storage: Refrigerate leftovers for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
