M & M's
optional, for a festive Valentine’s version
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Place butter in a cast iron skillet and melt in the oven. Carefully pour melted butter into a mixing bowl.
Stir in brown sugar and vanilla until combined. Add eggs and mix well.
Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix just until combined.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Press the dough evenly into the skillet. Sprinkle M&M’s and extra chocolate chips on top if desired.
Bake 20-25 minutes, until the edges are golden and the center is just set.
Let cool slightly, then slice and serve warm for the ultimate
gooey skillet cookie
experience.
Notes
For a thicker, softer center, use a 10-inch cast iron skillet. A 12-inch skillet makes a thinner cookie with crispier edges.
Slightly underbaking gives you that classic pizookie-style gooey center.
Skip the M&M’s for a classic chocolate chip skillet cookie you can enjoy any time of year.
Best served warm with ice cream for an easy, crowd-pleasing skillet cookie dessert.
