- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef *or turkey
- 1 onion *chopped
- 1 green pepper *diced
- 2 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 15 oz tomato sauce
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 2 cups flour
- 3 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/3 cups milk
- 6 tablespoon butter *melted
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese *shredded
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the turkey/beef until no longer pink. Drain fat. Add in the onion and green pepper and cook an additional 5 minutes, or until tender.
Add the brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard, garlic salt, tomato sauce, and ketchup. Mix until all combined.
Allow to simmer over low heat while you prepare the topping.
In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, milk, melted butter, and eggs. Once mixed, fold in the cheese.
Pour meat mixture into the bottom of a 9 x 13 baking dish. Spread dough layer on top of meat, covering entirely.
Bake in a preheated oven, 400 degrees, for about 35-40 minutes, or until top layer is cooked through and turning golden brown. Remove from oven and cut into desired size pieces!
