Slow Cooker Hawaiian Chicken

A flavorful chicken dish that is the perfect combination of salty and sweet. Served on rolls or enjoyed by itself, this dish is a crowd pleaser!

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 cups pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • salt/pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine the juice, brown sugar, ketchup, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and onion powder. Set aside.
  • In a skillet, heat 2 tablespoon butter.
  • Add chopped onion and saute for about 3-4 minutes, or until golden.
  • Stir in the flour.
  • Pour pineapple mixture into skillet and cook an additional 5 minutes, or until sauce begins to thicken slightly.
  • Place chicken into slow cooker and pour sauce evenly on top.
  • Place lid on slow cooker and cook on low 6-7 hours, or on high 4 hours.
  • Once cooked, shred chicken using two forks and serve on rolls!
