To make the batter, beat together 3/4 cup of sugar and shortening until it's light and fluffy. Add an egg and beat it in well. In a separate bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
Alternately add portions of the flour mixture and milk to the beaten mixture, making sure to beat until smooth after each addition. Finally, spread this batter into a greased 8x8 inch baking pan, and top it with blueberries.
For the topping, mix 1/2 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of sugar, and cinnamon, then cut in butter or margarine until it becomes crumbly. Sprinkle this mixture over the blueberries. Bake in a preheated oven for 45-50 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
