- 4 egg yolks
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- peanut butter *creamy, desired amount
Slowly bring the milk, cocoa powder, and chocolate chips to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, remove from heat.
In a medium bowl, mix together the egg yolks and sugar until it is thick.
Pour the mixture into the hot milk slowly while continuously stirring.
After it is mixed, heat on medium until the custard thickens, about 10 minutes. Be careful not to let it boil. Once there is a film on the back of your spoon, remove from heat and allow to cool.
When the custard base is cool, stir in the heavy cream and vanilla. Transfer the mixture to your ice cream maker and follow the directions from the manufacturer.
Once the ice cream is to desired thickness and ready to eat, you can fold in desired amount of peanut butter. To make the ice cream firmer, place ice cream in your freezer for about an hour!!
