Growing up, I ALWAYS drank regular milk. I honestly had never heard of anything else. As I got older, married, and had kids, a lot of my friends were using Silk® Original Cashewmilk. I wasn’t sure why, so I began to ask around and do my own research. I realized that it was free of dairy, soy, lactose, gluten, casein, egg, and MSG. My youngest kiddo has some allergies, mostly dairy related, and our pediatrician recommended switching to Silk® Original Cashewmilk to see if it helped. I began adding it to our morning smoothies and cutting out regular milk in his diet and sure enough, his issues went away. My older kiddos loved the taste of it and slowly started asking for it more and more.

I typically add it into my morning smoothies, or into a bowl of cereal. My kids prefer the original, and I prefer the unsweetened. Both have a creamy taste, 50% more calcium than dairy milk*, less calories**, etc.

Whether you choose to put it in coffee, in smoothies, cereal, or just drink a glass of it, it is definitely something I recommend. With no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives, you can’t go wrong. It is plant based, cholesterol free, no saturated fat, and has no high-fructose corn syrup. It is a great option for everyone, not just those with allergies!

*Silk Original Cashewmilk: 60 cal/serv; skim dairy milk: 80 cal/serv. USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference, Release 26. Data consistent with typical skim dairy milk.

**(Same for both Original and Unsweetened) 45% DV calcium; dairy milk 30% DV. USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference, Release 26. Data consistent with typical skim dairy milk.
