Ingredients Needed for Santa’s Kitchen Sink Cookies

Below is a brief overview of each ingredient needed to make this kitchen sink cookies with pretzels. To see the printable recipe card, scroll to the bottom of this post.

    • Butter– I use unsalted butter, however, you can use salted butter if preferred. You will melt the butter and allow it to cool before using it in this recipe.
    • Brown Sugar/ Granulated Sugar– this adds the sweetness to the cookie dough as well as gives the cookies their soft and chewy texture. I use light brown sugar for these cookies.
    • Vanilla Extract– opt for pure vanilla extract versus imitation for best flavor addition.
    • Egg– one large egg at room temperature.
    • Flour– all purpose flour is best.
    • Baking Soda/ Salt– ensure freshness as this gives the cookies their rise.
    • M & M’s– look for the red and green variety as it adds to the festive look of these cookies.
    • Chocolate Chips– we love using white chocolate chips, however, you can also use semi-sweet chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, or even peanut butter chips if preferred.
    • Pretzels– I use mini twists and crush them slightly, this will add to the salty addition.
    • Potato Chips– these get crushed and will get added to the dough to bring more saltiness to the cookies.
    • Sprinkles– opt for festive colors such as red, green, and white!

all the ingredients needed to make Christmas Kitchen Sink Cookies.

How to make Christmas Kitchen Sink Cookies

    1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
    2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugars, vanilla extract, and egg, until combined.
    3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
    4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet, slowly, folding the mixture together until just combined.
    5. Fold in the M&Ms, white chocolate chips, pretzels, potato chips, and sprinkles.
    6. Use a 1 ½ inch cookie scoop to scoop out the dough, and place on a cookie sheet 2-3 inches apart.
    7. Bake for 11-12 minutes, until the cookies are just starting to turn golden brown.
    8. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, and move to a wire rack to cool the cookies completely.

step by step on how to make Kitchen Sink Christmas Cookies.

Storing these Kitchen Sink Chocolate Chip Cookies

    • These tasty cookies do not need to be refrigerated. Store them at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Place a sheet of wax paper or parchment paper between the layers of cookies to prevent them from sticking together.
    • Freeze baked cookies in a freezer bag or airtight container for up to 2 months. Thaw before serving.
    • If you prefer your cookies warm, feel free to reheat in the microwave in 15 second increments until heated through.
    • To make ahead of time, the dough will stay fresh in the fridge for up to 3 days, or in the freezer for up to 2 weeks. Just be sure to bring the dough to room temperature before baking in oven.

    Christmas Kitchen Sink Variations

    • Feel free to swap the add in’s if desired. Chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans), toffee bits, oats, butterscotch chips, Ritz crackers, popcorn, peanut butter chips, dark chocolate chunks, etc. are all great options.
    • If you aren’t a white chocolate fan, any flavor chocolate chips can be used in it’s place.
    • For a chewier cookie, you can add an additional egg, however, if you go this route, I recommend chilling the dough to make it easier to work with.

    Expert Tips and Tricks

    • Measure all ingredients accurately. You want to add the correct amount of flour so that it doesn’t change the texture and consistency if adding too much or too little. Use a knife to level off your measuring cups before adding into the mixing bowl.
    • Use a cookie dough scoop to keep each cookie uniform. You don’t want one baking faster than the other.
    • Be sure not to over-bake. The key to perfectly soft and chewy cookies is to remove them from the oven when the tops are lightly golden. They may look slightly underdone in the center, but once removed from the oven, they will set up on the cookie sheet.
    • Add a few additional add in’s to the top of the scooped cookie dough balls before placing in oven as this makes them festive and adds to the overall look.
