Fudgey Chocolate Brownies

If you have read through the blog, you now know I have a major slight obsession with chocolate. Pretty much anything chocolate is a favorite of mine. One of those “go to” chocolate things I like to make is brownies. I have probably tried over 100 varieties and always end up going back to the boxed Ghiradelli’s mix. I don’t know what it is about that kind of mix but it is really yummy!! Anyhow, I decided to attempt another version, but this time, add in more chocolate pieces. WOW! That was the trick! These not only closely resembled the boxed mix, but they had even more chocolate than the boxed kind and I can now say, these will be my new “go to” brownies! Even my hubby agreed, and he is a Ghiradelli fan like I am!! I can now say I make my brownies from scratch, YEA!! Enjoy!


1/2 cup butter, room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup dark chocolate chunks
1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
*You can use desired chocolate if you do not like dark or semi sweet


Beat the butter, sugar, and vanilla together in a bowl. Once creamy, add in the eggs. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and mix until combined. Fold in the chocolate chunks/chips. Pour mixture into a greased 8 x 8 baking pan. Place in a preheated oven, 350, and bake for about 30-40 minutes. Remove from oven and cool.
