Garlic Bread (bread machine)

Typically, when I am making a pasta dish, I love to pair it with garlic bread. However, a few nights ago, I looked through my freezer and did not have any garlic bread on hand. Yes, I know, I can make some using butter and garlic on bread, but I decided to pull out my bread machine and try a new recipe. This version was delicious. I used the delay start feature on the machine so that it would finish cooking a few minutes before dinner, therefore, letting us enjoy fresh, warm bread with dinner. The whole family loved it and the garlic herb flavor was not too intense, so we were able to enjoy the remaining loaf with a different dinner the next night! Have I mentioned how much I love my bread machine? Definitely one of my favorite kitchen appliances!!

1 1/2 lb Loaf:

1 1/4 cups water
2 tbsp butter or margarine
3 1/3 cup bread flour
2 tbsp dry milk
1 tbsp dried parsley flakes
1 1/2 tbsp sugar
1 1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1 1/2 tsp bread machine/ fast rise yeast

2 lb Loaf:

1 1/2 cups water
2 tbsp butter or margarine
4 cups bread flour
2 tbsp dry milk
1 1/2 tbsp dried parsley flakes
2 tbsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp bread machine/fast rise yeast

Add the water to the loaf pan. Add in the butter or margarine. *Cut the butter into each tbsp and place one tbsp on each side of pan. This helps evenly distribute the butter. Next, add in the bread flour, dry milk, parsley flakes, sugar, salt, and garlic powder. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and carefully add the yeast into the well. Lock pan into the bread machine and close door. Program desired settings such as bread color, loaf size, type of bread (I used basic for this recipe), and time delay if using. Turn machine on and allow to bake. Once cooked, remove carefully from machine using oven mitts. Allow to cool a few minutes before moving to a cutting board. Enjoy! If storing, allow to cool completely and store in an airtight container!

I always have a loaf of homemade bread around from the bread machine and I usually just butter and add garlic salt. This seems yummy and fun so I might have to try it sometime for a different take on garlic bread. I love the bread machine and I can’t believe it took me so long to use it. Now I make all of our breads from scratch!! Can’t live without it.
