Spaghetti Sauce w/ Spicy Meatballs

My family LOVES pasta. My kids especially love spaghetti. When I made this sauce the other night, my kids were dancing around the kitchen singing “we love spaghetti” haha. The one thing my kids do NOT like with their spaghetti, is meatballs. I do not know why, but they will pick around them, and refuse to eat them. I have tried about 5 different recipes, so I think it is the thought of the meatball, rather than the taste. My hubby and I however, love them. I made a batch of spicy ones, since it was only my husband and I eating them. The rest of the meatballs are now in my freezer and will be used the next time I make spaghetti. I highly recommend making a batch and storing in your freezer. They are perfect to pull out for a last minute dinner idea and “typically” the kids like them, just not mine haha!!

Spicy Meatballs

1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
1/2 tsp salt
1 small onion, chopped
1 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp Italian Seasoning
3/4 tsp dried Oregano
3/4 tsp red pepper flakes
1/2 tbsp hot sauce (you can add more or less as desired)
1 1/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/3 cup milk
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
1/2 cup bread crumbs

Preheat oven to 400. Mix all ingredients in large bowl. Follow the order listed above. Once combined, form meat into 1-2 inch round balls and place on a baking sheet. Bake in oven about 20-25 minutes, or until no longer pink in middle. Serve!

Spaghetti Sauce

1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
1 (6 oz) can of tomato paste
6 oz water (use tomato paste can)
1 (24 oz) jar of tomato puree
7-8 garlic cloves, minced
2 tbsp sugar
1/2 tbsp dried oregano
1/2 tbsp onion powder
1/2 tbsp garlic powder
1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
Salt/pepper to taste

Brown the meat in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once cooked, drain the fat. Place meat and all other ingredients into the slow cooker. Cover with lid and allow to cook on low for 3-4 hours.  Serve over cooked pasta!
