Nutella Puppy Chow (Muddy Buddies)

As you all know, I have an obsession with chocolate. One of my most favorite desserts is puppy chow. You may know it as muddy buddies. I have made an original version and one in the form of bars. Both are equally as amazing! I decided to change it up and add a Nutella twist. I know several people that LOVE Nutella, so this would be perfect for them. I loved the hazelnut addition to it. It was the perfect sweet to whip up yesterday and the whole family has thoroughly enjoyed it!

12 cups corn Chex cereal
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup Nutella
1/2 cup butter
1 cup powdered sugar

In a saucepan, melt the butter and chocolate chips together until creamy and smooth. Be careful not to burn chocolate. Remove from heat and fold in Nutella, mixing until smooth. Pour chocolate mixture over cereal and use hands to coat thoroughly. Once cereal is coated, transfer to a gallon sized ziploc bag. Pour powdered sugar into bag with cereal and shake until evenly coated. You may need to add a bit more powdered sugar if the cereal is completely coated. Store in refrigerator until chilled, enjoy!

I tried this recipe and the chocolate/butter mixture, while smooth and creamy for the most part on heat, started to separate when it began to cool as I folded in the Nutella. If I were to make any revisions to this recipe it’d just be not to use any butter. The mixture won’t curdle and will then stick to the cereal.
