Double Chocolate Banana Bread

I don’t know about you all but bananas are ALWAYS piling up in my house. My kids LOVE to eat them, so I always keep them in the house, but then one week they decide they don’t want them, so I end up with 8 or so blackened bananas. I usually throw them in the freezer until I am ready to deal with them, he-he  If you were to look in my freezer right now, you would see 5 loaves of banana bread, and now 5 more of this yummy chocolate banana bread. It is one of those things I like to always have since they are perfect for company, play dates  snacks for the kids, etc. I tried this version of banana bread yesterday and it is now one of my favorites. I definitely recommend it!!

1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/3 cup vegetable oil
3 mashed bananas
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350. Grease a large loaf pan, or five mini loaf pans. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients excluding chocolate chips. Mix until smooth and creamy. Add in chocolate chips. Pour batter into loaf pan(s). Bake in oven for 60-70 minutes if using a large loaf pan, 40 minutes if using small pans.

Hmmm, good question. Typically, I would use 50% whole wheat and 50% all purpose if I was going to change it up. I have heard that in these types of recipes, you can however just use it as the recipe calls for and not make any changes.
Let us know what you end up doing and how it turns out!!! : )

I’ve been making this for years using half whole wheat and half regular flour with fine results. so good when you warm a slice in the microwave for about 15 secs.
