My hubby LOVES anything to do with breakfast. I typically, am not a fan haha! When he found out I was making sausage gravy with biscuits, he got so excited. I honestly did not know it was considered a breakfast food. I figured it was a dinner recipe, until he explained “biscuits and gravy” haha. I now can add this “breakfast” to my list of favorites! I will say though, whether it is breakfast food or not, it can and should be eaten any time of the day, : )
1 lb breakfast sausage
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1 cup milk
1 cup Whipping cream
1 tsp sugar (optional)
Brown the sausage and sprinkle pepper on meat until desired amount is reached. Sprinkle flour on top of sausage and stir. Allow to cook for about 2-3 minutes. Gradually stir in the milk and whipping cream. Bring mixture to a simmer and allow to thicken, about 3-4 minutes. Add the sugar in and stir.
This is perfect served over biscuits, but if you prefer it in a tortilla or another way, I say go for it, : )
